  • Easy to put up, very sticky, unexpectedly bright. Wish the power cord were a tad longer. Great value
Size: 16.4 ft
Bought this as a Lightning Deal for $12. I'd seen these for a while but finally decided this was a good option to try. It arrived very quickly. Usually these gadgets get tossed aside and forgotten, but I decided to try it out. I plugged the power adapter into a switched wall outlet, ran the cord up the wall, and used that as my starting point for sticking up the strip. I wanted to go without the dimmer but I found I needed it in order to reach even my relatively-low ceiling. Even then I had to have a couple inches of the lighted portion hanging down. That would probably be the one complaint I have about this product. I used a cable clamp to provide some strain relief in the hope that it will prevent the strip from being pulled down by the cord tension. I used the full length, uncut. Be careful pulling the paper backing away from the strip; if you peel it incorrectly it will take the adhesive tape with it, then it won;t stick well at all. I recognized this and was able to correct it before getting far. I peeled away a section at a time, about 1~2 ft, working across the wall. It's sticky enough that I didn't need to clean (i.e., alcohol-prep) the surface, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to brush away cobwebs or dust. Once it's up,m it seems quite strongly attached. I've only had it up for an hour or so, so time will tell. I wish now I'd gotten a longer one so I could have gone all the way across the room, but this strip covers the majority of it. I'm quite impressed with the brightness overall; it seems to light up the room better than the two wall sconces. I have them actually facing down, so it doesn't project across the room as much as it could. The photos make it seem brighter and warmer than it actually is, but to my eye I can tell a nice difference. It won't completely light up a room on its own, but it does at least provide substantial fill light. I only wish I'd paid more attention to the temperature color. It is 6500K which comes out slightly bluish, and maybe not as bright as if it had been about 4000K-5000K. But ya get what ya get. Definitely getting more of these for some other rooms. But it's limited in that it needs to be near an outlet. I would love to hardwire it to a 120V light switch but that's obviously not feasible. UPDATE 11-Jul: I've had these up for over a week and I still like them. They maybe don't seem as bright as my initial impression, but still a nice fill light. What I do like most is that they are still holding strongly to my ceiling, even in hot & humid conditions. These have genuine 3M VHB thick-film adhesive. I'd bought a couple other strip rolls from other sellers, thinking they would be the same, but they use "ME" adhesive (with a logo meant to look like the "3M" logo) which is thinner and not nearly as sticky. So I'm buying at least another roll or two of the LE product, for when I want to stick the strip facing down or vertically. Be sure on these LE strip to only peel off the paper backing, NOT the adhesive tape itself. I also have been doing more research on the connection methods for joining multiple strips, splicing, tee-joints and corner joints, all without soldering (because I can't solder to save my life). So when I get more of the LE rolls I'm planning on extending this light almost all the way around my den. I also learned a bit about LED drivers which can be hard-wired to 120 VAC and provide a 12V DC current in different wattages. I'm thinking I may take down one one of the wall sconces, hardwire a driver, tuck it behind a wall, run the output wire up to the ceiling, and thus have a cleaner installation, dimmable lighting, and sufficient wattage for the extended length. UPDATE: I decided to downgrade 1 star as I find this strip has a flimsy backing, which makes it more difficult to work with when connecting strips together with the various push-and-snap connectors. (I find the other brand to be more rigid and easier to push in.) ... show more

  • Looks really nice, dark wood shelves and drawers
Size: 16.4 ft
I used this to augment lighting in a closet. I had installed one of those California Closet type systems, one sold by Lowes. Looks really nice, dark wood shelves and drawers, brushed metal rods, etc. But it was a little dark in some of the corners, you couldn't see what color and pattern some of the clothes were. Each clothing rod has a nice, wooden shelf above it. So I mounted these LED strips under each shelf, pointed right above each rod, for its entire length. Now the clothes are lit up perfectly. Makes a dramatic difference for closet usability. In one place, there was no shelf above the rod, so I stuck the strip directly to the metal rod itself, along the bottom, so as the hangers slide on the rod, they don't touch the strip. The LED's lights up the clothes below perfectly. So these lights can be mounted to something metal, without shorting them out. I mounted a new outlet to the closet wall, wired to the closet ceiling light. So the outlet is dead until you turn on the closet light switch. I plugged the LED strip power supply into this outlet, so the LED's turn on and off with the closet light switch. It takes a split second for the LED's to light, just how the electronics work, so there is a small delay between when ceiling light is on and LED's is on. The kit was easy enough to setup, although I have electronics and electrical experience. Some things to note: While you can cut the strips to length at set intervals that are marked right on the strips themselves (every third LED), you have to be careful to mount the strip in the same direction it was before you cut it. In other words, ABCDE<cut here>FGHIJK..., when you go to stick the strip that is represented by F-K, make sure the side that is F still points to the side on the other strip where E is (be careful not to flip it around so K and E join, otherwise it won't light, as polarity will be reversed. If you do this by mistake, the LED's will still work once you correct your mistake, jut don't leave them plugged in reversed for a long time, that might burn them out). Note these letters aren't on the strips themselves, just an illustration I made up to explain things. Each LED is mounted to the next on the strip in parallel (electronics term). What this means is, you can connect cut sections of strip in 'series', OR in 'parallel', and the LED's themselves will still be in parallel. In other words, my power supply was in center of closet, and I wanted LED strips to go left and right from there. So I just cut the power supply cord, and spliced in a pair of the red/back wire splice connectors to the power supply leads, so one connector went to the strips to the left, the other to strips to the right. So I wired those strips in 'parallel' to each other and all still worked. I then had to cut each strip, the one on left, and the one on right, and splice in a section of wire (using the same red/black wire splice kits also sold here on Amazon). So when I joined one strip for one closet rod to the next strip for the next rod, these strips were wired in 'series', but again, the LED's themselves are still in parallel, so still light up properly. I used plastic stick on wire conduits from Lowes to hide the wires which connect one strip to the next. This worked well, and gave a more professional finished look. The glue on these strips is very good. Sticks really well. However I made a mistake at one point, and had to remove and restick on strip, and it wasn't a problem at all. I was able to remove it, and remount it, and it still seems just as solidly stuck as the rest of them.Great stuff! The connectors themselves, that you use to join strips where you cut them, are a bit fiddly. Small, detail work, where if you don't get it just right it doesn't make a connection and the lights don't work. You also will want to make sure there is a good strain relief so the wires don't get accidentally pulled out. I used tie wraps to secure these wire connectors to the surface the strips were stuck to. In other places I used an insulated staple, the kind to secure wires in place. But these options may not be available depending on your application. Be sure to devise some means to secure the connectors at each splice, or the lights will be a constant maintenance issue each time something bumps the connector. ... show more

  • Beautiful lights
Size: 32.8 ft
I would have given 5 stars, but the lighted copper take ripped in half on the 1st roll I installed. The second one looks terrific.

  • The tack of tape could be a lot better
Size: 16.4 ft
50 adhesion of the tape was better this would be a five-star rating for me I use it to make litho pane light boxes I have to tack it down with super glue to make it stick but other than that they are great fit for my use and I recommend it highly and will continue to

  • Horrific to install, but does the job
Size: 16.4 ft
I got this for an enclosure for an xTools engraver (specifically this cover https://amzn.to/3UeQslr) The glue was a bit of a disaster working with it - the strip you're supposed to peel off the backing was stuck under the glue. I alcoholed the frame and then zip tied the lights to make sure they stuck well. The glue is pretty tacky, but I wanted to make sure. The strip is also not waterproof - it's the thin paper feeling kind of led strip. Even though it feels cheap and install kind of sucked, I give 4 stars because it DID do the job I was looking for. ... show more

  • Broke in first connection upon delivery.
Size: 32.8 ft
Wouldn't recommend with how fragile they or the poor quality control. I didn't plug them in right away, so they either arrived broken or broke along the string when I was installing them. Either way I wouldn't recommend these as I was very gentle upon installation.
