Look, If I paid $30-$40 for this, then yeah, It'd be a 3 star. But at $8 for 16.4ft I am more than happy. The 16.4ft was just enough for my 80inch TV and surprisingly easy to install even with my need to make everything perfectly straight and get as close to the edge as possible. Functionality: The remote functions are unecessary. The strobe and flash could be cool for a party, But for day to day I'll just set a new color every now and then to change it up. Brightness: Not crazy bright, But there are like 40 steps between the brightest and dimmest settings. So it's great if you want it to be a bathroom night light or be able to walk around without turning on a light. Colors: Does great at the Red, Green, and Blue colors. Everything else is lacking in blend. The White is a blue tint and the purples and other blended colors don't sell it. You can get a nice yellow out of it, but it obviously doesn't adjust the brightness of each color yo get the desired blend. Install: Honestly easy. Set your USB, use some tape to set the start point, and then just use the adhesive. We'll see how it does in the summer but for now I trust the adhesive, especially since the adhesive is along the full strip and note just certain points. Something to consider: Does your TV USB stop supplying power when turned off? I was expecting the strip to turn off when I turned off when I turned off the TV, But I was wrong, and pleasantly surprised. Didn't know I wanted a night light in the living room, But when all the lights are off, It's actually quite nice to be able to see just enough to walk around. Don't think I'll bother turning on the ceiling kight when getting ready for work anymore. Especially since I'm not a morning person anyway. Overall: For $8 this was a steal. I spend 8 bucks on the value menu at McDonalds and rarely remember what I ate the next day. Well worth the cost. PS: Contrary to one of the answers given, You can cut these to size at about every 18inches or so. There are specifically indicated spots to do so. ... show more

My son picked this as his chore reward, and I honestly was a little skeptical because of the price. But they work great! Lots of different colors, the adhesive is nice and sticky, and looks so cool in the dark!

I bought four sets. Two for my brothers fifty inch TVs and two for my fifty inch TVs. They could have been a few inches longer but will suffice. My biggest complaint is that all four remotes are nearly worthless! Two don’t work at all. One you must hold behind the tv to use, and even then you must try a few times. I did buy one other set. It was almost thirty dollars. The remote works great. The length of the light tape is longer also. So I guess it depends on how much you want to spend and how much you want to change up your lights. I didn’t return mine. I put on my favorite blue back lights and leave them that way. ... show more

    • A few caveats

When this arrived I tested it with my television. The TV has a USB outlet and I thought that the lights would operate with the tv usb outlet. Well, when I tested, I found that when the tv was turned on, the lights came on... so I installed them and put the tv back. It was only later I discovered two things. That USB socket on the tv does not receive power the entire time the television is on. Your tv may be different, but mine stops powering that outlet after several minutes. What's more, any time the power is stopped to the led unit (not turned off, unplugged or power to the outlet stopped) it resets to the annoying color flashing effect instead of sticking with the last previous setting. Once connected to steady power, the strip stays lit and will retain whatever setting you chose prior to turning it off. This is not a BIG deal, but I was hoping to avoid dealing with more cords by having the led strip on the back of the television powered by the tv and to come on/go off with the tv remote. Apparently, my tv is not set up to accommodate that and if it was, I'd have to reset the lights to my preference every time I turned it on. Kind of a disappointment, but hey, they never made any promises right? I will just end up getting a wall wart & usb extension for it, and basically leave it on full time. Oh, and the colors - hope you're not picky. The "orange" looked more lime-green to me. Fortunately for me I will probably have mine on red full time, which is a nice back-light for a dimly lit room while you're watching tv at night. ... show more

Love the light. They went onto my desk border and are very strongly stuck on. My only complaint is the purple and pink tones are non-existent. The primary colors work. And the light blue is nice. Overall I put them on fade and enjoy it.

This light is just junk. When I first plugged it in it just flashed for an hour The remote has way too many buttons that basically are useless. Who needs this many button to change between 3 colors? There is no plain WHITE. I just want a solid color not a disco flash dance. You would be better off buying a 9 volt battery and hooking up a christmas light. I suggest do NOT waste your money and this cheap crap. ... show more
