Due to the negative reviews, I was really skeptical about this pan. However, its price is quite attractive. What the hack! I decided to give it a try!! 1. The pan was nicely packed when arrived. 2. It is as heavy as a regular 12 in cast iron pan. 3. I decided to try the Pan Fried Chicken recipe which I normally cooked it using nonstick pans. It was a pleasant surprise how well this pan performed. Refer to the pictures . 4. It is a non-stick pan if we heat up the pan before adding cooking oil. Cook with medium fire. The key is HEAT UP the pan first! 5. This pan is easy to clean.. just wait for it to cool down, then use mild soap and a scotch sponge. ... show more

Arrived with the handle cleanly snapped off the smaller frying pan but the big one is very nice, so decided to just accept the breakage as cost of doing business in this case (or maybe just too heavy to be lugging across the city to a return location). Haven't used the set yet but really looking forward to it. I love cast iron! ... show more

This is a heavy pan with that feels heavier than other pans of similar size. It seems to hold heat better than competitor pans for searing scallops and steaks. The pan came in with no damage to either the pan or the outer box. The silicone handle protector works well too. The matte finish is an interesting feature that does seem to guarantee the pan to never rust but I do not have a long history with this yet. Overall, I am pleased with this product. ... show more

As others have noted these are not true old school cast iron, they are enamel coated but it makes no sense and is awful. If truly coated it shouldn't need to be seasoned and should handle soap etc. no issue. Yet, they tell you to treat it like a true cast iron. It's also way heavier than traditional cast iron pans of same size. Most enameled skillets are smooth but this is rough, even after attempted traditional seasoning. It's rougher than normal cast iron. It left shreds of every scrubber, towel or material I tried to dry it with or season oil on it with, just little shreds left in the pans many crevices. It's the oddest spikey, bumpy texture I have every came across in a pan. Scroll through other reviews, others complain about it too. Not sure if I'll like the Lodge brand but at least they are true cast iron, waste of money with these though. ... show more
