The hair color works well and will last about 2 to 3 weeks for me. Don't really care much for the built in applicator, I just squeeze it into my hands and apply like I would any other hair dye. If the built-in applicator brush wasn't so stiff, I would probably use it. The reason I buy this over other brands is I like that the color and the developer are all in one container, you just twist, shake it and apply. I always hated having to mix the two together manually. Definitely be careful how you apply, this stuff will stain your skin, alcohol and a cotton swab after application does get the color off your skin with a little rubbing though. Directions state to leave it in for 5 minutes, but I usually set a 10-minute timer for myself. Not sure if that's making any difference, but that's how I've been doing it. I also use one shade lighter than my actual hair color for a more natural look. So instead of using black, I will use dark brown, I think it looks better for me personally. ... show more

This product was easy to use. Twist, shake, snap, and squeeze. The first three are easy. However, the squeeze part is not so much. The product container, while squeezable on the side, becomes cumbersome to squeeze as you get into the application. The bottom part of the bottle is rigid enough that it prevents squeezing out the rest of the content out. I would have preferred it if they made the bottle a little skinny but longer and perhaps tapered at the end, just like the end of a toothpaste tube. That would make application a lot easier. One tip for guys with buzzed cuts, please apply the product comb along with the natural direction of your hair. If you're going against it, you'll notice a lot of splattering around you. Also, if you have vinyl or latex gloves that fit you, use those instead of the cellophane gloves that come with the product. They are oversize most of the time and will make your application messy. Last tip is to apply a coat of Vaseline along your hairline so that the dye won't permeate your skin. As for how effective the dye is, it's pretty good. I been a loyal customer of Just For Men for many years. This product hardly makes any mess. The dye is just for the hair and my skin doesn’t turn colors like the dye with Just For Men. When I wash it out hardly any dye is anywhere. It bonds to the hair great. Some flaws though. It’s hard to open. I had to use a long nose pliers to break tab The ball inside blocks the flow at times The hair becomes rough but o let conditioner stay in hair for 6 minutes to make my hair soft again But overall the product is good. ... show more
