Having a dark hair is a nightmare sometimes when you are trying to color your hair without bleaching it to death to try and lighten it or spend hundreds of dollars in the process. I used to color my own hair but it was just too dark. I had it gradually lightened professionally for the past year and half. I reluctantly bought the color Downtown Brown to color my own hair because it’s just so expensive to have it done. I’m not sure I can express how amazing my hair looks. I’m sincerely shocked. I was so scared any color I bought would darken my hair even though I bought a light ash brown (probably from me doing wrong in the past). My hair looks amazing. I honestly think it looks better. This hair color made my hair super brassy which was exactly the opposite of what I was looking for in hair color. I am not sure if it is the chemistry of my hair or what, but I thought that this cool lift was suppose to not make hair brassy in color? Also, the hair color attaches so much more dramatically to the roots of the hair than other dyes I have used in the past. I should’ve known better. As a professional cosmetologist I have never used boxed dye, but my daughter wanted her hair done so I just added this to my Amazon cart. According to the photos it should lift 4/5 levels but maybe it lifted 1.5. The hydrogen peroxide (developer) was probably old, but frankly I’m glad it didn’t lift her hair much.
