  • compliments so often!
Color: VIOLET DREAM Size: 8 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I’m 56 years old with 100% silver hair on the top and sides, along with some gray in the back. I started using Arctic Fox instead of permanent dye about 15 months ago, and it actually covers my gray, too. I usually leave it on for 3-4 hours, but I’m going to experiment to see if I can get good coverage in less time. My thought has always been that if I’m going to spend the time and product to cover my roots, I want it to look great and last. I only wash my hair once a week and so because of that, I guess the color lasts on me longer than it might others. It really lasts well on the parts that aren't root grow in - like on those parts, I only recolor my whole head maybe once every 3-4 months and it never fades to be gray or anything like that - it just fades to what it would look like if I only used Ritual not mixed with anything else - if you're not familiar with that Arctic Fox color - it's like a brownish burgundy. As for the roots, I do have to color every few weeks but can go a month if I use colored hair powders like Splat Hair Chalk. If you have gray, you know the hairline though can look bad pretty quickly and so I do have to color that part more often or use colored hair mascara if I don't want to recolor ever week. It’s fun how many compliments I receive from young women in stores. They often tell me they love my hair color, ask if I’m a hairdresser, or want to know how I got my color to look like this! A few have even said, “I’m going to tell my friend how you did that!” With gray hair, I find it’s important to add some brown to create a richer look. I mix in any of the temporary browns available since I don’t think Arctic Fox has a brown that I know of. If you just apply fashion colors over gray without a brown base, I don’t think it looks as rich or flattering. I mix brown with Arctic Fox Ritual, Violet Dream, Purple AF, and Ritual to achieve a beautiful burgundy-ish plum. I’ve also received compliments for a bright red mix that doesn’t need brown: 2 parts Sunset Orange, and 1 part each of Wrath, Poison, and Ritual. This combination creates a stunning red, similar to Pulp Riot Pyro, but at half the cost. If you don’t have gray hair yet and have dark hair, I recommend lightening it to at least a copper shade; otherwise, you might not get the vibrant results you’re looking for. ... show more

  • This is not permanent color, it's semi-perm
Color: AQUAMARINE Size: 4 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I have been wanting to color my hair blue for at least 3 years. I decided to let my beautician color my hair. My hair was mostly Gray with a little dark brown so there was no need to line it. I was out shopping today and running errands and I received so many compliments on the color of my hair. I will definitely let my beautician know that she did a terrific job in adding the color that I wanted. I chose aqua blue this time, but I will probably choose saffron blue when it's colored again. Blue is my favorite color. I love it. ... show more

  • My go-to hair color!
Color: VIRGIN PINK Size: 4 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I’ve tried a lot of pink dyes, and Arctic Fox Virgin Pink is hands down my favorite! It’s a beautiful cool-toned pink that isn’t too light or too orangey, which is exactly what I was looking for. I wash my hair every other day, and the longevity of the color depends on the shampoo I use, but it’s not a big deal since I refresh my color every 3-4 weeks anyway. The scent is amazing, and even leaving it on for just an hour gives me vibrant, rich color. The only downside is that my scalp gets a bit itchy if I don’t shampoo after dyeing, likely because it doesn’t like any residue left behind. Overall, if you’re looking for a stunning pink dye with great color payoff, this is the one to get! ... show more

  • Great color for price!
Color: AQUAMARINE Size: 8 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I’ve dyed my hair with arctic fox multiple times now, and I have always been happy with the results. This time I used the color aquamarine on my lightish brown hair and these photos are after 2 washes (one in direct sunlight and the other in indirect light). It usually takes a few washes to get it to the color I intended. Super good payoff and easy to do myself! I will say, this s*** STAINS! Bathtubs, towels, clothes, everything. Be sure to have a few towels and shirts you don’t mind ruining for the first 2 or 3 weeks after dyeing. I only wash my hair once every few days to preserve color, but when I do wash my hair it continues to turn everything blue. Maybe don’t use this stuff if that will bother you. ... show more

  • Works a little too well
Color: RITUAL Size: 8 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
If anyone sees this product and thinks to themselves: Hey! That would make a beautiful color to try to fade into a bright green towards the end of my hair! Be warned. The red does not care what your plans are. It does not care that you carefully sectioned and spent painstaking time making sure to fade the color JUST RIGHT. It doesn't care that you bought a whole other bottle of hair dye and used that on bleached ends. IT WILL DYE EVERYTHING. As soon as you go to rinse, and the dye passes over the hair, it gets sucked right in. There's no stopping it. On the bright side, the color is beautiful. Just make sure this is the only one you're wanting to use, because it's the only one that will survive anyway. ... show more

  • Fantastic!
Color: PURPLE AF Size: 8 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
It's early days, since we just did this this morning, but I love how it turned out! This was on virgin light to medium brown hair. I used 4 parts Purple AF to 1 part Poseidon. Processed for 15 minutes with heat, then another 1 hr 45 min without. Cleans off the skin easily with rubbing alcohol. If this lasts any amount of time, I will be using this again! (And it didn't stain the tub!) ... show more

  • Did not work out for a redhead
Color: TRANSYLVANIA Size: 4 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I don’t know if it’s because I have red hair but I followed the directions. Let sit for 30 minutes at least but the color didn’t come out at all. I guess it’s slightly darker but there’s a definite green tint to it. It looks like I did something to my hair for Halloween and it didn’t wash out. Speaking of which, washing it out was a nightmare. I used gloves for the application but didn’t know I needed them for the wash afterwards too. My hands were so stained and it was almost impossible to get off. The dye went everywhere in my shower and I had to scrub the whole tub as well. I’ve dyed my hair black for many years but this was the first time using this product. Like I said, maybe it’s a redhead issue. But also maybe gloves when you’re rinsing it out too. ... show more
