I didn't buy the AC adapter and have only had to change the batteries in it maybe 4 times so far over the 10 years. I live in New England and our summers tend to suffer bouts of high humidity. As a result, the stainless steel has begun to get little spots of rust because of the humid summer environment, but that is to be expected of stainless steel. The media could not be loaded. works very well- bag does not rip when removing. there is a piece of styro packing that can fit in the bottom of the can so the 13 gal liner fits perfectly. A bit pricey but I would recommend Even my cat can show you how easy this is to operate

The media could not be loaded. Very nice trash can. Needs 4 d batteries and has a small opening. The regular 13 gallon trash bags u buy in stores fit but don't reach the bottom. Holds much more trash than our last one. Has a small compartment for smell deodorizer. Slim tall look and easy to clean. I Would buy again and recommend it. This is not a quality product. It lasted only about a week and a half before the lid failed and stopped operating. This probably looked better on paper than in actual operation. We put this trash can in the kitchen and it was used a lot during that time. (Family of 4). The problem is with the mechanics for the motion of the lid. The chain mechanism is really nothing more than little plastic beads that are formed around a piece of string. These little plastic beads then fit in holes around a gear. When the lid actuates the beads are pulled in one direction or another rotating the gear to make the lid open or close. In our situation the string broke between 2 of the beads rendering the lid useless. We tried to swap the trash can for a different model that had a different lid but we were told that wasn't possible and the lid could be replaced for ours. We had little confidence that a new lid would last any longer so we just tossed the whole trash can and went back to the original trash can. ... show more

This is a great trash can. I love the slide open top instead of the lift open top. The fact you can use an AC adapter mean I do not have to replace batteries. That being said I had purchased one at the beginning of may and the d cells are still going . The size and shape works really well so that I can put two on the space I have for it. I did purchase a second trash can as I wanted to separate my recyclables. Both trash cans fit in the space nicely. It does have a drawback. The plastic bag retaining ring is rather weak and can break somewhat easily. The first trash can I bough had the bag retainer ring break but I was able to fix it with some duck tape. They definitely keep in the odors and the included filter helps with that also. They are a little tall for a 13 gal bag, but if you use the foam packing and fill in the bottom it fixes that. The media could not be loaded. I purchased this trash can for my hair salon. I wanted the ease of being able to throw foils, hair, wax strips Etc. in it easily without having to touch the lid. I was so excited when it arrived, but my excitement quickly turned to disappointment as soon as I plugged it in (ac adapter sold separately). At first it wouldn’t even open or close ( I never did get it to open or close). Within seconds of waving my hand over the sensor it started SMOKING. Yes you read that right. It was smoking from under the area where the sensor is. It also started smelling like burnt plastic so I quickly unplugged it as I was afraid it was going to catch fire. I own a simple human touchless trash can and I have to say it’s worth every penny. I returned this trashcan immediately and ordered a simple human brand one. That’s what I get for trying to save $50! Looks great! Exactly what I was looking for. This is our third automatic trash can...and we simply LOVE it! It's everything it said it would be. For this particular one, we really like that the lid rolls back rather than flip up. We however had an issue with the lid. It chattered back and forth whenever it’s trying to close which is extremely annoying and loud. Minor adjustment we made in order for the lid to close properly was we super glued a piece of plastic on the tip of the lid to help the sensor so the lid would completely shut and stop making that sound. Problem solved and now it works fine! We also liked this one because of the size of the container. You can get a lot of trash in it. Purchased the iTouchless AC Power Adapter as well. ... show more
