First, it has an ON switch, LOL, which is not mentioned in the user guide, nor in the troubleshooting guide! It's not hidden, but not obvious, either. The unit is a little flimsy, and there is no liner, though it does have a bottom. (So if your garbage bag leaks, it will at least be contained in the trash can, maybe. Of course, cleaning it is going to be a chore!) The sensor is infrared and isn't as sensitive as it could be. My hand is within the arc of the door by the time it actuates, so the door is constantly bumping my hand and stopping in a partially open position. I think I like stepping on a foot pedal better. But I think I got what I paid for. Similar bins are twice the price, but I think I'll just stick to the manual bins from now on. ... show more

I am happy with my purchase. It looks nice, the bag stays in place. I've been using it regularly in my kitchen for a xouple months and I havnt had to replace the batteries they are still going strong. My only complaint if I had to would be if the top could stay open just a bit longer duration sometimes I have more than one thing to throw out and it closes on me. It is not good at all. In fact all of these styles from other srller too are all trash. Did nott ever have to spend so much on these items in my life. Thus one started to leak from bottom last year so now is used only paper or lint for laundry. I am tired of purchasing trash cans not built well at all I am not on the stainless steal I bought last year.....sane problems with battery mechanism and tonight found liquids all over kitch and paid more then this one(62.00!) there are all poor quality at to much of a cost. How this can happen 4 to 5 times to me is nothing I can understand. Never should need a warranty for trash when offered one. No room in this rental for thr real dancy ones for estate home, not my style nor in my budget. Going back to the regular kind with no batteries needed as they cost a fortune to and rediculous to need gor trash cans. Companies should supply lifetime batteries for consumers who buy and like product that never leaks. I believe it is the bottom not designed well with as not one solid piece, just a little addon for looks. Think about the product going into it who cars about mixing white trash can with black bottom or whatever color they all are horrible. If is was all one piece at bottom I would have first one from 2016 bought for 75.00. Its so unfair and not spending another 60+ for 6th one. Yo many pieces and batteries for holding bunch of garbage. Going back in time to make my life easier and no more of these designs for me. My mom had a plastic all one piece lasted for years. These are made for looks for user friendly to me. Trash cans costing way to much. I do not need it as a focal point in my kitchen, rather be less noticed. No more time to "waste" on trash can that causes more "Waste". I love this item. I had to get an indoor trashcan with a lid to keep the air born insects away. It does that. When I bought it I figured the automatic lid open and close system was a joke and would be superfluous. It's not. It's very practical, works every time and I have come to love it.
