UPDATE… Rubbermaid eventually did reach out to me concerning the issue. After a bunch of emails and pictures they did send me a new garbage can and lid 😀 Also a plus was now my kids have a new giant box to color in! I LOVE this garbage can because it is an elegant white and very easy to work, but……it had arrived with a broken loop on the lid. I thought I could make it work because the other two loops were fine but that lid just did not like me. It would not stay secure without that end loop. I contacted the company so maybe they could just send me a new lid but no luck, I haven’t heard a peep. This sucks because not only was this can a little more than I wanted to spend in the first place but I did because it was pretty, but now I have go out and buy another garbage receptacle just to throw my garbage in 🤦🏻♀️ Make sure you fully inspect the lid loops before you have your kids color all over and inside the shipping box it came in‼️ ... show more

I bought this to replace one of those stainless steel cans which proved to be difficult to clean (and which fell apart.) I like Rubbermaid products and I like this can but the lid was not attached and it was an ordeal to attach it. It has two prong type extensions which must be slotted into the can base plus a metal part on the base which works with the pedal. I was able easily to get one prong in and then the metal but getting the second prong into its hole was very difficult. It's about 1/3 of an inch and it has to go into the hole but it doesn't bend (this would make it likely to break) so you have to somehow get the prong into this hole. I ended up sitting down with the trashcan on my lap with the front facing my lap and the back facing to the sky. I managed to attach the lid. I tried other ways (the can standing, putting in one prong first etc) but this was the way I finally did it, with the can on my lap. As for the trash bag issues: I buy mine (13 gallon white with red plastic handles) from Costco. The rim of the can is 48 inches around and the bags I buy are exactly that. I managed to get the bag to fit. There's a knack to it. I put the bag in with the red plastic handles long ways. The tight fit does cause the ring to put up a bit but as the rubbish is put in and the bag weighs more this self corrects. Good luck!! ... show more

I found myself whining about not being able to install the lid and just assumed since I'm 76 years old it must be me. Then I looked at the 1* reviews and found out I am far from the only one with this issue. I'm sure the Rubbermaid folks have a lovely tool to do just that or one guy they call godzilla. Oh well, guess I'm going to get used to a lidless trashcan....... ... show more

Well, here's my initial review: While this is a classic Rubbermaid quality trash can, and appears well made, there are a couple drawbacks: 1) Standard 13-gallon trash bags (I use Glad) are an extremely tight fit--I would almost say they DON'T fit; with the gizmos that are supposed to lock the trash bags in place, by the time I wrestled the trash bag over them, I had to REALLY struggle to get them to go back into place so I could get the lid closed. I'm not looking forward to doing this every time I remove a trash bag, I can tell you. I may end up just pulling the trash bag over the outside edge of the can, as I did with my old one. 2) Attaching the lid to the can initially was a challenge. It took me about 10 or 15 minutes to assemble that. There are no instructions of how best to attach the mechanism that makes the step-on foot peddle work, for starters. Update: ten months later, I now hate, hate, HATE this can! The lovely inner band that the bag is supposed to slip over falls off now and has to be wrestled back into place, time after time. Trash can liners don't FIT this band, so changing the bags is a constant struggle. I am in the market for another trash can. I'm bummed, as this was not cheap, and Rubbermaid is usually a good brand, but they should hang their head after producing this can. ... show more

Did not have any of the issues mentioned in reviews for this model. Lid arrived attached and in working order. Stickers came off easily. No scuffs, dents or scratches. Came wrapped securely. Arms work as expected without any issues. Lid closes as expected. Is a light plastic so can move when stepping but, ours is against a wall so not an issue. I would not have paid full price but was on sale at 50% off. Original price of $50 is a bit much for a trash can. Especially one of lighter type molded plastic. Some of the reviews and videos are for the other models as well which I think added to some confusion in some of these reviews. The basic model has a plastic step not metal for example. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I loved this trash can until I wasn’t so happy with it. I realize I’m a year past the warranty, but I expected a Rubbermaid product to hold up for more than two years. The problem? A piece that connects a “liner arm” to the can broke off and now it won’t stay down properly. The lid stays open a bit unless I push it down or there’s enough in the bag to pull the arm down. BTW, I’m in my 70s with no kids or animals in my house and do my best to take care of my possessions. I did not handle this in any rough manner. I’m looking to get a new can but it probably won’t be this one as it costs 25$ more than I paid for it in 2022. ... show more
