I have never dyed my hair myself, and only had it done once before, years ago. I am a total newbie to hair color. I have wanted to go red again for years, and decided to surprise my husband with a new color and cut for Valentine's Day. I didn't want to bleach. I've never used it, and never had it used on me. I was nervous enough about the dye. Bleaching my hair myself just seemed like a really bad idea. Unfortunately, all the images of this dye I could find are obviously on bleached or very light hair. But I'd done a lot of research and decided on this brand and color, even knowing it probably wasn't going to come out super bright like all the pictures without bleach. On my medium to dark blonde hair, the Neon Red came out more magenta than red. I'm really happy with it. I am sad that the UV reflection doesn't work very well on darker hair. You'll see a little here and there, but only hints. But I guess that's to be expected. The images are from the same day, in the same spot with the same lighting. The after image is still a bit wet from the rinsing, but mostly dry. So if you are starting with darker hair, there is a reference for you. It's a month later now, and I have taken care to wash/rinse in cool/cold water, and I added some dye to both my shampoo and conditioner to help maintain it. I wash it once or twice a week. It seems to be a bit redder now and less pink. I'd attach a picture, but for some reason they all make my hair look very coppery in color now, and that is absolutely not what it looks like in person. But the color is mostly holding very well. It does bleed some, but nowhere near what I was afraid of. It smells delicious, and is very easy to apply, even for a beginner. Wear gloves, and protect surfaces as much as you can. If you get some on a counter or something, clean it immediately. I have very little in the way of staining because I took care to clean it quickly. The Pink Stuff works well for removing traces you might miss. I got the bigger container, and after cutting my hair to about shoulder length, I have about half left. I probably would have more, but I wanted to completely saturate my hair with it, so I may have overused. I'm so happy with it! I love how easy it was to use, how it came out, and how it's lasting. If you want something more temporary, though, this dye (and their pinks) have the reputation of being almost impossible to completely remove. Sometimes even bleach doesn't knock it out entirely, apparently. I'm very happy with that, and specifically looked for dyes that would stick, but if that doesn't sound good to you, I'd look elsewhere. You may be stuck with the color until it grows out. Overall, I think I am hooked on hair color now. I'll likely be trying other colors on the future, and Iroiro will be at the top of my list! ... show more

I love the long lasting color from iroiro! Red pigments are tricky, and the last few reds I used would be washed out pink-blonde within a couple weeks even with cold water and sulfate free shampoo. When I use this as my base, my hair is red for at least 2 months and I haven't gotten to that pink-blonde shade again before my roots get bad enough to need to retouch it all anyway! This red sticks so much better! It is a very pink based red, and it is kinda weird in that the color in the bowl is not the shade it takes on the hair, so don't panic when it looks pink instead of red because it turns out a nice deep red once it oxidizes in the hair. I add a touch of purple and green to mine to make it deeper and slightly neutralize the pink, which turns out a beautiful dark cherry shade. You do have to be mindful mixing though, it will be lighter in the bowl, so I aim for the color in the bowl to look like someone took the shade of red I want and diluted it to a dark pink. I did half my hair Iroiro pink, and the other half Arctic Fox sunset orange. It was great seeing a side by side comparison. I feel that the iroiro side was softer after coloring, and the color stayed vibrant for longer. Definitely sticking with iroiro from now on.

I've been bleaching and dying my own hair for about 2 years. I typically only use Artic Fox or Brad Mondo's dye and decided to give this a shot since it was on sale. I was afraid 4oz wouldn't cover my medium length hair but I was able to use just one bottle and have I about 1/4 left to spare. I think toning after bleaching is important to get the exact shade you want. I don't bother because I'm lazy which means I have some brassiness impacting the final result. I love how it turned out. I do a balayage look with my natural dark roots which means the color is slighter redder/orange at the top where the bleach hasn't lifted too much, and then a true pink on the middle and ends. As you can see in the photo, this turned out neon, hot pink. It's a little more bold than I'm used to but I'm expecting it to fade with shampooing. The photo is after a fresh application. I followed a reviewer's advice by shampooing the dye out right after application and I think that helped with any bleeding. I also liked how this smelled, it was sweet and candy-like. At full price, it seems a bit pricey for just 4oz but I'm pleased with the result so far. ... show more

I first bleached my hair to 8-9 before applying. I have short hair, and I only dyed the top of my hair. So one bottle goes a long way for me. 1st image: day after, bright electric teal 2nd image: 25 days, a nice mossy green (my favorite color my hair's ever been) 3rd image: 2 months, almost back to blonde, hint of green I wash my hair every 3-4 days, hot water, not doing anything special. The color was fire, got a dark cherry red/pink. Didn’t have too much of a problem with bleeding outside of the shower like some people have. You will be pink in the shower LOL, and when first dying it. Did fade on the top/roots a bit quickly, but to be fair, my water wasn’t cold enough. First time dying my hair ever as well, so I probably don’t hold well. That being said, the rest is great and still super pink, especially paired with my color depositing shampoo. Would totally recommend this, just take the right steps to prevent bleeding. Love the color, my friend said I look like I could be a fairy from Tinker Bell! :) ... show more
