    • Worked for light ash brown hair!

This worked so well! I have naturally light ash brown hair (exactly the color on the box if you go look in the hair dye aisle if you want a reference) with a decent amount of grey and some sun bleaching. I left it on for about two hours and it worked beautifully! It looks just like the product photos depending on the lighting. Sometimes I feel it looks more turquoise/teal (I’m not great with color names) and in lower lighting my non-greys look quite dark, but overall it’s definitely green and I’m super happy with it. It covered the greys 100% and gave me a nice two toned look. My former greys look bright and sparkly almost like tinsel and my sun bleached anreas are nice and bright. I honestly couldn’t be happier, I’m hooked! I don’t want to dye it back when I go back to work. Smells fine, my husband liked it, and it left my hair feeling fairly normal, maybe a little heavier the first day like if I used extra conditioner. Couple of “cons” that really just come with the territory, my scalp and nails and shower all stained, but after washing it the next day (it says don’t use shampoo when rinsing after application) with a scalp scrubber, my scalp was back to normal. I’m sure my shower stains will fade, but I wouldn’t recommend using an unsuspecting friend’s shower or a bathroom with expensive or white tile just in case. ***Update 3.5 weeks later. My greys and sun lightened streaks are still fairly green. The other areas are still darker than they were before, but not so green looking anymore. I still wouldn’t get away with it at work. I would say 3-5 weeks application isn’t too bad for the price. The first two weeks were really fun. But that overly conditioned feeling persisted making it hard to get my natural wave to cooperate. My hair is fine and doesn’t like too much moisturizing tho so ymmv. I am going to try it again after lightening my hair with a bleach kit to see if that balances out the moisture problem and if the color will last longer. ... show more

Been using similar color for 40 years but the bright side to my age is that I no longer have to bleach first although it's typically considered necessary to open the cuticle. I've retried every brand and this one (specifically Amethyst) stains my porous natural grey the best however I do leave it on longer; I can only imagine how great it would look if I could be arsed to do a bleach bath but my favorite part is how my white highlights are enhanced by the color. I've never been this happy with a brand when it comes to application, scent, evenness and longevity. I believe after having read some of the negative reviews is that those with staining and repeated rinses may have oversaturated their hair with the product. I've found that I use a lot less than any other brand (a tub every two months vs one monthly) AND I don't need to leave it on as long. I believe my unfiltered photo shows how little prelightening is required. (To be fair it's recently-done; I get by doing a quick root reapplication/refresh every two weeks and only because my hair grows maddeningly fast) ... show more

I have lots of gray hair and got tired of salon dye so I tried something fun with my gray hair. My usual brand was out of stock so I tried this brand. I ordered Amethyst and it's the perfect purple color I like. Smells nice and there is no tingling burning at all. My hair color came out nicely and got a lot of compliments. Even though I love the color, I wouldn't buy anymore. It dyes literally everything it touches. I wore a cape and gloves to prevent getting on me but the sink and countertop were not safe. Also, it dyed my shower floor severely. This dye washes off everytime I wash my hair and I have to be really careful not to get on the wall tiles as it will still stain. Too bad… ... show more

Our son dyed his hair red and we needed a product to replenish the red and keep his hair from fading to pink (if you’ve ever had dyed red hair you know it’s the hardest color to keep fresh!). We love this product! It doesn’t stain your scalp, just your hair. When we originally dyed his hair using a different brand his scalp was dyed for almost two weeks. So we were so happy to find out that even if you get it on your scalp it will rinse right off. We also have white sinks and tubs and as long I rinsed our sink/tub right away it didn’t stain. The only thing that did get stained were our white towels. I already recommended this product to my friends! ... show more

DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT unless you want everything stained purple, esp your shower. I am very experienced in using this kind of product for years. I have never had this happen to me. It was thinner than the semi permanent I usually use OVERTONE so it was very messy. I am used to thicker products. I left on for 1.5 hours, and after wash and rinse 12 times it looks almost black, supposed to be purple. But worst of all it stained my shower immediately. I was trying to clean it off WHILE in the shower and the stain was immediate. The instructions indicate not to use shampoo after application but I saw how bad it was staining I washed and rinsed 12 TIMES to finally get the water to run clear. If I hadn't done that I was afraid everything my head touched would stain, fairly positive that would have happened. Even after all the wash/rinses I am still concerned. After my shower I went back and immediately scrubbed with harsh cleaner and stains remain. I will never get them out. Any good reviews must be bots because this is HORRIBLE. If I can save one person and shower stalls everywhere please listen. I am an actual experienced customer. Use Overtone. More expensive but I have never had these problems. I requested a refund, doubt I'll get it. DO NOT USE!!!!! ... show more
