  • Perfect Hawkins Cooker
Size: 3.5 Litre
If you're Indian, you know you need a cooker and Hawkins is almost always your best bet. Works as you'd expect your Hawkins cooker to work. Quality is impeccable - you could probably hand it down to your children even after using it everyday. This one came with a newer style whistle. Also priced well compared to other Hawkins cookers available online. I purchased the 3.5L type with a widemouth. The widemouth is very convenient to use. Also comes with included gasket. Bottom Line: If you've used a Hawkins cooker, and you want another one and have to buy it from Amazon, this is your best bet. If you don't know what Hawkins pressure cookers are, but you need a pressure cooker, you can buy this and you wont regret it. ... show more

  • Awful product. Safety valve goes off every other day
Size: 1.5-Liter
I am very unhappy with this product. I have used pressure cooker of the same brand of various sizes for more than 30 yrs and never had any problem. This one is a pain. I bought this to cook my infant's food, but the safety valve goes off every other day, spilling food through the hole of the valve through out the kitchen. Since I bought this cooker I lost count how many times I replaced the safety valve. I won't recommend anybody to buy for this cooker. Your money has better usage than buying one of this. Amazon should come out with an innovative way to put negative stars or may be a thumbs-down for products like this. ... show more

  • Great pressure cooker for one or two people.
Size: 2-Liter
I purchased this pressure cooker mostly to cook long grain / wild rice and it works quite well for that purpose, but is suitable for other foods as well. You will need to experiment somewhat with your cooking time since it is a hassle to check the progress of the food as it is cooking, but once you get a method established it works very well. As usual, it is best to read the instructions before use. There is a section that describes treating the inside of the pot with lemon juice to prevent the darkening of it's innards before first use. Also it is important to have enough water and cook at the proper temperature since overcooking could leave you with a mess in the bottom of the pot. I use steel wool or a heavy scouring pad only occasionally to remove any mild internal oxidation. Overall, this pressure cooker is very well built and should provide you with years of use. The handle appears to be Bakelite or similar material and feels very durable. The pressure release valve works well and is relatively easy to clean in the unlikely event it gets dirty. Sometimes I will bring the water to a boil before I close it off and then reduce the heat to about a three or four depending. I try to minimize the "popping" of the valve and shoot for having it just rocking back and forth a bit under pressure. Results will vary depending on the type of stove you have. Due to the shortness of duration it takes to cook food (and for safety reasons) I never leave it unattended. Although, if operated correctly, the most that would likely happen is overcooking or burning your food. All in all, I feel this was a good purchase. ... show more

  • Good quality and well built light-weighted pressure cooker!
Size: 3-Liter
The media could not be loaded. Our pressure cooker rubber seal broke last week and after an unsuccessful search of the rubber ring online for my model, I decided to replace the cooker and so went for this. I was using the Prestige cooker for years. Hawkins is a leader of utensils in India and so thought of trying this one. These are light comparative to my old cooker but I guess that's good and makes it easy to use. However, these are well built and feels sturdy being light. My 2 cents below: Pros: - Well built overall. Finishing looks good from each and every end - Functional pressure cooker. Hold pressure pretty well and great for cooking - Seems sturdy and would last long - These are light in weight. Not as heavy as my old cooker - Reasonably priced pressure cooker for a 3-liter capacity Cons: - Probably exterior finish could have been matt finish instead of shining one as hard water spots are visible on shining aluminum ... show more

  • Mighty little pressure cooker!
Size: 1.5-Liter
So happy to find a small pressure cooker. Perfect size for small portions. It works very well, cooks very quickly, but be sure not to fill it above 1/3-1/2 way. Takes some getting use to with inserting the cover but you will get the hang of it. It really feels secure and I am not so worried about it blowing off. ... show more

  • Returned.
Size: 1.5-Liter
I’ve had pressure cookers all my life, stove top and electric. These ( because I also bought the 4 quart) are not easy to open or close, however, the deal breaker for me was when I cooked rice the third time, I chewed on some metal (scary) looking at the cooker I realized the second valve had melted making the metal go in the rice. As said before I’ve had pressure cookers all my 63 years of life and this has never happened so no mistake on my own. Back they went. ... show more

  • Defective and no option to return
Size: 2-Liter
The safety valve of the pressure cooker broke after 4-5 uses, causing a potentially dangerous situation. Since the manufacturer is based in India, it is next to impossible to return the product back even though it is within the warranty period. Amazon customer care service won't help and it is hard to negotiate a refund or repair when the seller is based in India. Waste of money. Waste of time. And, exposed to a dangerous and explosive situation in the kitchen. Don't buy here. ... show more
