I bought this for my son's 15th birthday to add to his movie night theme. - easy to put the parts together - works perfectly - comes with measuring cup, measuring spoon and scoop - tastes just like movie popcorn ( we got spray butter and popcorn seasoning a movie theater uses.) - easy to clean Initial assembly was fast and easy. All you have to do is add the cord, kernel hopper, lid and mixer. I had no problem doing this. The instructions were very easy to follow. We have made about 6 batches of popcorn with no burning issues, no staining of the sides. I'm guessing people who have had staining issues haven't read the directions that tell you to clean the machine after use. I can see burning being an issue if someone is lax with cleaning it. Popping was fun. It takes a few minutes for it to heat enough to get the oil hot. Once popping starts it is only a minute or so more depending on how much you're popping. We popped 1 cup and it feeds 4 adults which is the equivalent of about a small popcorn at a theater each. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase. I will update this post in another month or so to let everyone know how it is holding up. I do suggest this purchase, it has been a great addition to our movie night and was great for my son's birthday. Update: We have had this for 6 months and it works just as well as the day we bought it. We have used this machine sometimes a few times a week, to a few times a month. We have kept up with cleaning the machine and it has not had any burning issues. The plexiglass sides have not burnt and are still just as clear. I bought this for a Halloween event at our office. Our theme was vintage baseball. I thought this would be a good idea to have. I was pleasantly surprised to see how cute, and compact it was. I literally put it on top of a counter and it hardly took up space. It was easy to put together and it did an excellent job with popping the popcorn. It was a huge hit. If you want to have a theatre like experience without breaking the bank on concessions, this popper is the key. This is my second popper. I bought my first one several years ago, and it lasted until about a month ago. The popper still worked, but the plastic sides finally gave out after years of use, cleaning, and several moves. I have a much larger popper at home with a cart..., but we use this one in our camper. My other popper is made of glass, and while it is much sturdier, it's harder to clean and not as versatile. When it comes to taste, that's all about the popcorn, oil or butter, and seasoning. We pop a lot of popcorn, and I can duplicate the theatre taste with this popper with no problem. The coating on the pot is already coming off from the mixer arm. Cleaning is tough to do but I can’t see a better way to make something like this and still be functional. We use it at least once a week. Light weight makes it easy to take to places to have popcorn where you want it. MAN ! This was a great buy. Bought it to use for my daughters party which was themed indoor movie night. The kids loved the fresh popcorn. My advice is to add your own salt after the pop corn has popped. Other than that, this worked better than I expected. It arrived fairly quickly and was in tact. Bought it for parties and deco. Use it a lot more than I thought I would. Get the 2.5 ounce popcorn packets or, at most, the 4 oz. Any larger and you lose around half the kernels to the bottom. If you get the premade popcorn packets, put them in the freezer for about 10 minute to solidify the oil. Makes it a lot less messy in the small space. This thing is amazing though. After 10 uses, the plastic support that holds the popcorn bucket broke. When I first looked at it after purchase, I suspected it could be a weak point. There is a similar support for the other side of the bucket that is also plastic. It was a great machine while it was working.
