I purchased these as a gift for a coworker that is a very big Harry Potter fan. I don’t expect her to hang them from the ceiling, but instead use them around her house and especially on her fireplace mantle. Batteries are not included, so be prepared to have a lot of AA batteries on hand if you want to present them being ready-to-use. I install batteries in four of the candles and the wand just to make sure that everything is working properly before I present it. I have to say, these are really cute. The light flickers so that it looks more natural, the wand works perfectly, and the fishing wire is already attached to the tip of the flame so they are easy to hang if you choose that option. But, if you don’t want to hang them, you cannot even see the fishing wire wrapped around the candle So you have options, and you don’t need to permanently choose either one of the options. The media could not be loaded. I love these candles! They are soft glowing and batteries last a LONG time. I hung these in my windows for Christmas and now have them hanging Harry Potter style in the living room. The wand remote is GREAT, it's pretty and well made, not bulky or cheap. I LOVE the timer feature, I use the wand to turn them on and onto a 6hr timer at 6pm and they automatically turn off at midnight and back on again at 6pm. A great feature of these candies is that they come pre-strung with fishing line at the tip of the flame, they hang straight, not wonky. Also, they're long and slender and clean looking, with a soft glow - other floating candles I've tried are OK, but they have more of an orange glow, are shorter, fatter, have more cartoonish shapes and molding to them, plus they hang crooked. These are more magical and whimsical rather than toy-like. I love them ... show more

These are fun! The wand is way better than having to turn them on or off by hand. I hung them in my entryway, they always grabbed attention when people walked in. Because they’re battery powered I turn them off frequently. Not sure if there’s a way around that. I like that the battery replacement is easy to access while they’re still hanging. They look sleek. I put them up around Christmas, I have no intention of taking them down. 😁 ... show more

One of the best things I've bought on Amazon. Bought for Halloween, but I'm keeping mine up through Christmas! They do require batteries, so assume you'll spend another $40 there. Also, one of the candles arrived not working from the box, but all the others were fine.

I really wanted to love this product. I am a huge Harry Potter fan and the quality of the wand and candles are overall very good. However, 3 out of 22 of the candles did not work after putting in batteries. Unfortunately the product is too expensive to not have all of the candles work and still be worth it. Originally purchase these for Halloween with some witches hats for decoration & love it! The clear string already installed on these made for very easy installation. Each only takes 1 AAA battery and the wand is such a fun addition as the remote. I loved them so much for Halloween that after I removed the witches hats and left them up through out Christmas and new years. The packaging was great as well so they are easily stored until next season! ... show more

These look awesome and worked well at first. The timer function never seemed to work correctly, but we just turned the candles on and off as needed. The wand remote stopped working after about a month of use, and changing batteries didn't solve the problem. Now to turn them on and off, I have to climb on the dining table and tighten or loosen the battery closure on EACH of the 22 candles. Very annoying. ... show more

Well, specifically, my teenager declared them "pretty sick" with a smile. I wanted to make sure our oldest had a little holiday magic still this year, so hung these in the bedroom. I wanted to minimize the marks on the ceiling & be able to reuse the plastic hangers in the future, so I bought several sheets of posterboard, stuck the hangers on the posterboard, and then used thumbtacks to hang the posterboard. It doesn't lay as flush to the ceiling as I'd like (I used gaffer tape along the seams, and that looked cleaner), but it did make installation super easy. Recommend stringing the candles before hanging the posterboard (saves pain for both arms and eyes!). Also, I kind of wish I'd hung the sections of candles farther apart around the room--the wand is pretty fabulous, but it also tends to turn all the candles nearby on at once, and it would be more fun to be able to "flick" them on in groups. Next year. Packaging was smart, and the pre-strung system worked perfectly, and the wand feels so good to hold! ... show more
