Be aware that these are not exceedingly bright (you cannot tell they are on in full daylight). At night they are perfect. Also note that should you extend them there is a 6 inch cable between the segments, so not a seamless look unless you loop the extra behind. The media could not be loaded. We hung these lights on the ceiling of our pool cabana. The Wifi router was about 8 ft away and it could not “see” it. I had to go through an odd sequence to reset it and ultimately moved the wifi router about 6 feet directly below it before I finally got it to communicate with Wifi. I was expecting the lights to be brighter. If you are directly under them the glow is ok, but not at a distance. We also have 16 of the cync wafer lights. This is an extension only, it does not come with the power supply. I like that you can add on to these lights instead of having to have several light strips. The GE CYNC light strip is a great RGB light strip, the colors are vibrant and bright with good diffusion. The GE CYNC LED Light Strip Extension is rated for outdoor use and you can get extensions up to 32 feet for a nice, colorful addition to your backyard. Waaaaaayyyyy too expensive for how limited these lights feel. These are not as feature packed as other lights that are half the price (and longer!) and the app really is very limited on what you can do compared to other lights. Yuck.

These were used to installed in the office/ gaming room. It gave such a good ambiance and the colors are very vibrant. Even though this is good for outdoors, didn't get to use it outdoors. This is super sticky so there was worries about this falling off. Overall great product.

The lights are undeniably stunning with impressive brightness and vibrant colors that can be customized in sets of three LEDs per color, though I initially anticipated individual control. That being said, the adhesive provided for the strip proves ineffective – when adhered to the back of my desk, it constantly detached, necessitating relocation to a wall with additional support from regular thumb tacks due to the unsatisfactory included clips. Additionally, the power cord's brevity requires an extension cord for placements not directly adjacent to an outlet. While the concept of custom light shows is intriguing, their usability is questionable, and I have yet to successfully integrate the strip and bulbs for a combined custom show. As a fan of GE products in general, I've found this one to be quite disappointing, particularly due to the poor adhesive quality and a subpar experience compared to other offerings in the line, despite my appreciation for the simplicity of the app and seamless integration with Google Home that CYNC products typically offer. ... show more

    • Lots to like, minor gripes

I've mostly outfitted my house with Hue products (mostly bulbs), but thought I'd give this a shot. One thing of note is that there are only enough brackets for one placement. If you want to put it somewhere else, it's not easy to find replacement brackets (kind of an awkward size) so you'll have to unscrew the first set and put it somewhere else. The actual light strip is quite thick, with a rounded top and a kind of hollow rubbery square bottom. The light patterns are pretty bright, but not that easy to create new ones. Each individual LED is somewhat visible but they do a good job of diffusing the light. If you're not looking too close or you're far away, you probably won't notice that much. I initially had a bit of problem connecting to my 5 ghz wifi channel, so I put it on my guest 2.4 ghz, and it was fine after that. Could be due the lights being in the garage so YMMV. My brackets are hanging vertically currently and there's no issue that I can see of it possibly falling down, but I think even if I were to hang them upside down on a ceiling or something they should hold. The clips, while hard to find in terms of replacements, do work well. GE also does not sell replacement clips, so that's also a bummer. Another thing is these are not compatible with IFTTT on their own, but they are compatible with Alexa. So you can actually do a workaround with IFTTT and something like VoiceMonkey and then through Alexa. I've not had any issues with the lights failing to initiate when using this, except for the first 2 times (maybe setup issues). Overall, these work well. You'll have to decide if the value makes sense for you, but I think these would be pretty comparable to a Hue set. Only thing I'm not thrilled with is the lack of replacement clips, and that the light pattern creation software on the app is not all that easy to use.
