  • Works nicely - Frddiud Laser Engraving Marking Color Paper
Color: Black
I'm very new to laser engraving so I don't feel too qualified to offer a really in-depth review. I was able to understand the directions and test this marking paper on a tile. I think it will work very well once I learn more about laser engraving. But I was able to engrave a nice design after a few test runs. Like others, I found you will need to do a little scrubbing to get the extra paper off. From what I have seen, I think this is a nice item to have in your laser engraving 'tool kit.' ... show more

  • Washes Away
Color: Black
I am really kind of let down. After months trying to teach myself how to use my engraver I was really excited to finally get to try this paper. I am unhappy with the results thus far. I tried it on both glass and acrylic and neither worked out very well. On both pieces the part that was supposed to be etched into the piece washed away or flaked off. I have not tried it on metal or wood but I will probably give it a shot. If I figure out why it is not working I will come back and update. ... show more

  • Convenient With Less Mess
Color: Black
This paper is an interesting alternative to paste or sprays. It is not as messy to apply to the work piece. I found it more difficult to hone in on the right laser settings than for the paste. Once you are done with the soak method to loosen the excess, it doesn’t just flake away like the instructions indicated. You will need some scrubbing. Overall it is a more expensive option for marking, that takes some work to get it right. It is not as messy as other options. ... show more

  • Works well, but very fragile
Color: Black
For purposes of this review, I'll compare this product to Cermark (or even just black paint). The quality of the mark you get from this is excellent, but to get good results requires some work and a gentle hand. This stuff applies like a decal. If you ever made model cars or planes as a kid, you'll be familiar with the process. Cut off how much you need from the sheet, soak it in water for a couple minutes, then peel the film off the paper and apply to your surface. The film is very delicate. Use care when applying it. In order to not get uneven results, you'll have to make sure it applies evenly without any bubbles. Once in place, I found that lightly tapping it with a paper towel did the trick. Trying to squeeze out the bubbles with any tool immediately caused it to tear. After doing your marking/engraving, the film cleans off with water. While giving you similar results to Cermark, this stuff is much harder to work with reliably. This is nice to have in the tool kit if you've got something you need to mark that you cannot get paint overspray on. It certainly won't replace Cermark or paint for the majority of my projects. ... show more

  • Confusing instructions
Color: Black
There is some typos and odd grammar on the included instructions. It says to wet the paper then place it onto the object to be engraved for anyone confused as I was.

  • Too Costly for Glass/Ceramic, Works GREAT on Metal
Color: Black
I have been having a time trying to get my laser to even think about marking stainless steel. I've tried every trick out there - including the yellow mustard trick. Still no go. THIS stuff, though... I am thoroughly impressed! I ran a power test at 100 mm/m from 20% up to 100% on my AtomStack A5 Pro 5.5 watt diode laser. As you can see, even at the lowest power, I am still able to mark the metal, but at full power, the etching is dark and durable. This is basically a water slide decal. The instructions say to PEEL the piece off after soaking it in water, but I would not recommend that. Once the decal will slide on the paper backing, lay the entire thing on your work piece and, holding the backing paper in once hand, slide the decal off and into position with your other hand. As long as it stays wet, you can reposition it. Once you have it where you want, CAREFULLY squeegee the air bubbles out with the included scraper and completely dry it with a hair dryer. Once the work piece is engraved, you're supposed to just re-wet the decal it off it comes. In my experience, you will need to use a scouring pad (one of those green things you use in the kitchen works best) to scrub the decal off, keeping the piece under running water as you do so. The description of this is confusing. In one place it says it works on metal (as you can see it does) but every where else it only mentions using it on ceramic. This stuff is costly... I would not recommend using it for ceramic or glass. For that, just use cheap white acrylic craft paint (the Norton White Tile Method). But for metal... this works great. I don't know how it compares cost wise to the various sprays, but ... that's your call. ... show more

  • Works well if you are careful
Color: Black
I got this to test with my laser and was happy with the results. I recommend you read all the instructions thoroughly before starting. Works exactly as the instructs state and leaves what appears to be a long lasting image on the item being worked on.
