  • The one I received leaks around the handle.
Some reviewers noted that the pressure cooker they received leaked around the handle. So did mine. From what I understand, the leakage is caused in many instances by a $10.00 part in the handle called a "Eurovalve". The Eurovalve contains a visible ball. In earlier (or original) versions, the ball is black in color. From what I've read online, the ball in the newer (or replacement) Eurovalve is white. Yes, mine was black. In my opinion, Fissler should either recall this product, or send all of their dealers replacement valves. Other than the leakage issue, this product is built like a tank. The bottom is thick and heavy, and the fit and finish is first rate. And while I could have contacted Fissler and obtained a replacement Eurovalve under warranty, I elected to return mine instead. Why? Because I think that for a $350.00 pressure cooker, I shouldn't have to trouble-shoot the problem, and then wait a week or more for a replacement valve to arrive. ... show more

  • learning how to use it to its best advantage, and trying some of my favorite recipes ...
I am an experienced pressure cooker user. I have owned pressure cookers from almost all of the current manufacturers and I currently own 8 or 9 pressure cookers. Some because of size. Some because of feature set. I spent a lot of time with each one, learning how to use it to its best advantage, and trying some of my favorite recipes to see how it performed. I always try my pressure cookers with brown rice. It is one of the trickiest things to cook properly and using a pressure cooker is my favorite method. I also like to cook beef stew. It is another of my favorites and it is awesome when cooked in a pressure cooker. I have purchased equally expensive pressure cookers in the past and I have been happy with the very expensive models for the most part. I was cautiously optimistic with the Fissler. From all of the reviews, it is supposed to be the closest thing to perfection there is. But I thought I should give it a try, being an optimist, and see for myself if it warranted all the accolades it receives. I bought the largest version made by Fissler. I like the 8 or 10 quart versions because you cannot fill pressure cookers to the top, but you can certainly under-fill them and cook your meal no problem. So the largest model it was. Next, I set out to find the lowest price I could while maintaining a good source. There’s nothing worse than buying something, getting your hopes up, only to find out the seller is a flake and the transaction turns into a nightmare. So I did some research. I found the best price was about $290 and the 10-quart Fissler is a bit difficult to find. I’m not sure if Fissler makes it any longer so there was some urgency to find one in the size I wanted from a vendor who was not a flake and who was selling it for the $290 low price I had seen elsewhere. To shorten this saga, I found it. I ordered. With Amazon Prime, I got it in 2 days. I had been planning a new recipe, one that I had seen and wanted to try for a long time: cabbage rolls (Golabki). I went by the grocery, collected the ingredients, and headed home. I had never made the dish before but I knew I had to blanch the cabbage to get the leaves to release from the cabbage head. I thought, “What a good use of the pressure cooker!” So I cooked the first head of cabbage under pressure for 8 minutes. It worked fair, not great. The outer leaves were really cooked thoroughly and as I peeled them off, they got less and less cooked (done) and more and more difficult to remove from the cabbage head. So I simply used the Fissler to boil the water (it was already boiling hot) and blanch the cabbage heads slowly. Worked great. And the size of the Fissler was perfection for large green heads of cabbage. I made the filling, stuffed the cabbage leaves, filled the pressure cooker’s suspended trivet (comes with the Fissler), and cooked the cabbage rolls under pressure. Wow! They turned out perfect! I was so happy. My family was happy. We all ate our fill because I was able to fill the 10-quart Fissler with about 25 cabbage rolls! The next day, I cooked a whole spaghetti squash. Worked like a charm! It’s great! What can I say? It’s going to be difficult to get it off my stove! I can see myself using it almost every single day. All of the qualities that made it America’s Test Kitchen’s top choice turned out to be qualities I valued as well. If you haven’t watched their special on Pressure Cookers and you’re in the market, take the time to watch it. Their points are valid. If you have the money, I highly recommend this pressure cooker. It is the only Fissler model I have so I cannot comment on their other sizes. But I suspect they are just as good, made with the same quality of course, just smaller. So the only decision should be which size would fit your needs. But once you buy one of these, you should be set for a lifetime. They’re really that nice! ... show more

  • Love my new pressure cooker
I always wanted an as pressure cooker. I found one and kept in in my cart for month and finally pulled the trigger and bought it. I had to watch videos on line a few times before I used it. The instructions provided were just ok. The pressure cooker works amazing. You add water and steam anything you want with the tray provided. My steamed artichokes came out perfect! Better than I ever expected. I am disappointed I waited so long. Highly recommend! Easy to use. It’s really big so it’s a challenge to store and clean but I make it work. ... show more

  • Outstanding. Expensive and worth it.
Beautifully made, high-precision pressure cooker. I could not be happier with this purchase. The steam pressure management system is ingenious and works extremely well. It comes with a small cookbook that has a side recipe for shrimp risotto: Takes four minutes at pressure to cook it, and uses residual heat to cook the shrimp. Con: The only thing I can complain about is that one must hold the steam release valve open by hand for 10 minutes when canning with this unit. But it's a pressure *cooker* and not a pressure *canner*, so one cannot fault the device for not doing what it wasn't designed to do. EDIT 20200818 Canning requires a steam purge of 10 minutes. You don't have to hold open the steam release manually for 10 minutes; just don't lock it. Close the lid almost all the way, and leave it unlocked. The steam/air will escape as it should. After the required 10 minutes, just lock it. ... show more

  • Family Size Pressure Cooker
Fissler is a family heirloom tradition. These pots will outlive you so plan on adding them to your will. This is my third pressure cooker and the largest in size. Tried an automatic pressure cooker but it is too limited in its abilities. Get over the fear of a pressure cooker and learn to cook. This is an awesome family sized pressure cooker. ... show more
