I was a bit concerned when I received this because the bottom part where you put the bread in is pretty shallow. I did give it a go though and the lid makes up for it being shallow. having the whole pot being cast iron made the bread cook differently than my bread pan in the oven. I wasn't sure how my bread would turn out because this Dutch Oven has a slightly smaller diameter than my other one, and my batch of bread is a big one (3 lb 10 oz when baked). The dough went in easily, and you can see that the new Dutch Oven shaped it beautifully.
