42 quart Stock pot arrived well packed and is nicely built. Like others said, it is bigger than I imagined but that's good. If you are looking for a steam pot, this is not it - BUT: The stock pot is not designed to be a steamer so I had to improvise (NOTE: no way I can return this now!). The basket handle mounting tabs had to go. They took up too much height. End result doesn't look as good but it works. Stainless Steel hardware was purchased at Lowes. The new "legs" give me 1.75" gap at bottom of pot for liquid with just enough room above to fit the lid as designed. Old pot was aluminum and the salt finally ate through. I expect this stainless to serve me well for many years. Look out, blue crabs! ... show more

Pro: It's nice size, and should allow you to do pretty much any entree required from low country boil, fried turkey, etc. it comes with a basket too. Cons: the handles are not what you’d expect in the stainless steel line of pots. If you have any arthritis in your hands, keep looking. It hurt to lift the pot onto the stand when I did the waterline fill. So I used my old pot instead. ... show more

Its a really large really heavy duty pot... really I dont know what I was thinking. This pot will excel in a condition you need a massive pot so I give it full stars. There was a little burning at bottom of pot from high heat of frying but thicker bottom is not likely needed as the metal is already pretty thick for a pot its size. After reviewing I wasnt sure about it but this is a thick gauge pot... just ask my toe. This pot should last me a lifetime of use. It is so big I would not advise for using for most people so be sure to know your intended application. I bought it to cook a 22lb turkey but that is probably not the best application for frying but it did do the job and well. I just needed a longer thermometer so that I could read the temp not just off the top. It took more than a big jug of oil so my advice there is to get to costko in like Sept not Nov and buy up 2 things of high temp oil at $16/ea instead of really expensive peanut oil at $33 from wallyworld. Since you cook only at 350deg you dont need a special oil. All in all Im really happy with purchase- I just think I probably should have gone with their 32 or similar quart. In retrospect it would have been easier to cook 2 smaller turkeys back to back than 1 big one. ... show more

I had to replace my old aluminum boiling pot after many years fo faithful service. I decided to go with stainless this time, as I find myself boiling outdoors in sub-freezing temps here in MN. Aluminum just transfers too much heat, and I'm hoping to get a more consistent (and lasting) temperature with this one. Build quality is very nice, and I don't have any doubts that it will work well and last for a long time! Only thing I will miss about my old aluminum pot is that it had a drain spout. This one doesn't, but I may consider adding one at a later time if I find I miss it too much. Quality, finish, and durability are all 5/5 stars on this one! ... show more
