I always like to dye my hair in the red tones. I have a natural ash brown which usually ends in a red brown that looks nice. Like all similar kits, this comes with the ingredients that you mix, 2 gloves and instructions for application. Always do an allergy test on your skin before use. It is easy to apply. I have thick fine hair, so when it is longer, I need 2 of these. Right now with short hair this one is plenty to cover my hair thoroughly. I always let it sit for the longest duration since my hair is darker than the suggested starting colors. This red is very pretty to me. Over my ash brown it has a slightly purple-red color that has a nice shine in the sunlight. It will stain skin, clothes, tile, etc if you get it anywhere, so be careful when applying. ... show more

I got this for a future experiment but am familiar with this brand and have used it before. I keep trying to find an appropriate shade of red that will work in my salt & pepper hair. I just need to find a free day when I have the additional energy to do it.

The color is rich and bright and looks great but it fades away pretty quickly. I added couple other brown color to achieve a different color and it worked.

I was unsure of how this color would look with my skin tone so I only did a strand test. While I determined that this shade is not for me, the color result was indeed bold, bright and beautiful. The shade developed into a bright purpley/pink reddish hue on my medium level 4/5 hair. I did notice that my roots did process lighter/brighter than my ends. My ends developed to a shade that looks much like the model's photo while my roots developed very bright and a lot more 'pink'. I do have existing color on the ends of my hair from 6-8 months ago. My hair is mainly all one color but my virgin hair is probably a level five, a little darker at the root while my dyed ends (though faded) are closer to a level four. Others with the same hair color situation as me might want to apply to your ends first to avoid hot spots and pink roots. While my test strand was developing, I didn't notice any scent whatsoever. I imagine any scent would be stronger if dying my entire head but what I mixed in my dye bowl smelled pleasantly floral. Processing time was 30 minutes. I'm assuming that this color takes a bit longer than the standard 20 minute processing time due to the bold hues in this line. Instructions were simple and easy to follow. A conditioner, gloss packet and disposable gloves were included. You get 2 oz of color and 2 oz of developer in this package. ... show more

I dyed my mom's hair which has been a mix of dark brown-black with this deep raspberry color. I like how the instruction were easy to follow and it didn't take long to process - roughly 30 minutes. It didn't dry out her hair and she really likes the color. It's a dark color so that it's not too bright and drastic for an older woman in her 60's. I enjoyed that the box had everything that I needed and it all was pretty easy to use and I didn't make a mess in my bathroom. I like the kind that has the color in a bottle for easy application versus having to use a brush and pour it into a plastic bowl. This help with a quick application as well. I grabbed this for my step daughter, and she is a fan of it. The color looks great, but, I'd probably advise making sure you start with a light color as a base to begin with, as colors like that generally don't take well to dark hair and lose a lot of the effect. Application is the same as pretty much any other hair dye, which isn't a bad thing in the slightest. I definitely appreciate the included color booster packet, which lets you bring back the color without having to spring for an entirely new kit, pushing the value per dollar spent. i got this color to use on the underlayer of my hair. i have natural dirty blond hair and I used this on the underlayer of hair to add some fun! looks ok. not as vibrant as what's on the box. but overall it looks ok.
