Description

The Broil King Cast Iron Rib Roaster is one of the most innovative ways to cook delicious fall-off-the-bone ribs. Designed like a traditional Dutch oven, this rib roaster lets you cook moist, savory ribs in a fraction of the time they would take to cook directly on the grill surface or in a smoker. It's also great for cooking whole chickens, potatoes, baked beans, and many other BBQ favorites. Featuring matte porcelain coated cast iron construction with a wire internal roasting rack, this roaster can cook up to 4 racks of standard- sized pork ribs. The wire rack keeps ribs elevated off of the bottom allowing them to steam in their juices. Add juice, wine, or beer to add even more flavor infusion to the cooking process. The lid features dimples on the inside that will drip-baste the food as steam builds up inside the roaster. The rib roaster features 5.5-in x 16-in x 4-in of total usable internal cooking space. The roaster is designed to sit directly on your grill cooking surface or on the Flav-R-Wave of a Broil King grill, keeping it out of the way and leaving you the rest of the grill to cook up delicious side dishes. On the smoker try 1 hour in the smoke at 225°F / 107°C and 2 hours in the roaster at 300°F / 149°C.

  • Bread Baking
This rectangular baking vessel makes a great Dutch Oven for baking sourdough baguettes. I was unable to locate a single-loaf curved bottom baguette baking pan, so I had to buy a triple loaf one and cut off the side trays so that it would fit, but it works and I’m getting great results. As an added bonus, the included rib rack makes a perfect cooling rack for the baguette! ... show more

  • I think it’s just for baby back ribs, but it needs to be bigger for the pork spareribs
It needs to be a little bigger to carry spare ribs to officially cook for at one time will be absolutely amazing. What is just for baby back ribs please if you make a large win, let me know. I definitely will buy it.

  • aka bread baking dish
Even though this dish is meant for baby back ribs, I bought it to make sourdough bread and it worked like a champ. The perfect size sandwich loaf. All the other cast iron bread baking dishes out there are so expensive, it is ridiculous!

  • More than just ribs, works for baking bread.
I bought this pan to make bread in. I wanted a loaf pan that was close to store bought sandwich bread size. This pan worked out great to make big full loaves of bread. The lid even works well for thinner breads like ciabatta, focaccia or any thinner loaf. I'm sure it would work just fine for roasting ribs also ... show more

  • Produced some great sourdough loaves with this
Like a lot of others, I got this to get into the sourdough baking game. I didn't want a standard dutch oven, because I wanted to bake longer loaves to get more consistently sized slices. I have to say that this thing has brought a lot of joy into our lives; over the past two months since I got it, I've baked more than a dozen loaves, each loaf better than the last - we've become quite a bakery to the delight of our family members. Since the loaf is long, sometimes I just divide it in two after baking - saving half for ourselves and half to give away. I would recommend you get a 13-14 inch oval banneton for proofing/shaping. I had trouble finding anything longer than that which would also be deep enough for it the dough to proof properly, but 14in is adequate since it does also expand a bit while baking. While the lower tub portion is preheating, I transfer the cold-proofed dough out of the banneton into the lid portion lined with parchment paper, which is deep enough to hold the dough while I dust off extra flour and score it. Then I just lift the dough by grabbing the ends of the baking sheet and transferring it into the tub, close the lid, and stick it in the oven. I take off the lid 20 minutes into the bake - you do have to be careful when you do this, since both the top and the bottom is piping hot iron - but you figure out a method to do all this after working with it a few times. ... show more

  • Excellent for breadmaking!
If you're looking for the ideal sized, covered cast iron roaster for baking oval shaped loaves, this is it! I bake 500 gram batons using this in combination with a 14" banneton. This, heavy baking dish is a full 16" long inside, and bakes beautiful loaves. And the included stainless steel rack makes a good cooling rack. I would have given this five stars, but the one annoying and occasionally painful design flaw is that the tiny tabs on ends of the top make it difficult to quickly remove the top when it's in the oven. I seriously doubt I'll ever use this on my outdoor grill, but I use it every week for baking batons or baguettes. ... show more

  • Good for ribs and more!
Good for ribs and so much more! I use it to bake loaves of sourdough bread and it's perfect for that!

  • Great for Making Sourdough Bread!
I bought the Broil King Cast Iron Rib Roaster specifically for making sourdough bread. Boy, does it work really well! I lined it with parchment paper, so there was no clean up, per say. As you can see, the loaf came out perfectly! It's a really good alternative to those pricey, enameled, "great chef's prefer!" loaf pans. The only downside that I can think of is, there isn't a great lip or handle for removing the lid during the last 10 minutes of bake time, when it's screaming hot. You just have to be careful and make sure you have a good grip on the little bit of lip on the ends, and are close to where you want to drop the lid. Also, It's cast iron so, IT'S HEAVY. All in all, a very good product for its unintended use! I've already recommended it to my baking friends! ... show more
