I'm sorry that I hadn't purchased these years ago. They make meal preparations so very easy, hold a sharp edge (which my husband greatly appreciates) and are easy for arthritic hands to grip. I wash them by hand since I don't have a dishwasher. It is suggested that the wooden handles will last much longer if they are handwashed and not soaked. I've had mine long enough to realize that these cautions are very true. I just rinse them off and hand wash. The clean very easily. Great gift or for personal use. I love these knives but they are so sharp! They do not provide a butcher block style knife holder so be careful. The case is nice but inconvenient when you just want to grab one and use it. My biggest complain is that AFTER you buy them you find out that you cannot wash them in the dishwasher because the wooden handles will swell. They tell you to wash by hand. Like I said, these are crazy sharp... so as I was hand washing with a sponge the knife quickly cut through the spond and into my finger! Ouch!! They should provide better blade guards also. The guards are tiny and difficult to put one which risks another slice of fingers. I do like these knives but can only recommend to people after they have read and accept my review. ... show more

Lightweight and unbalanced. Blade flexes like a plastic knife. Not full tang as advertised. Very sharp but wiggle like you'd expect for the price. Scissors are the highlight, in a knife set. That's a first. Something so cheap would make a great present for someone you don't like but have to get them a present anyway at Christmas to avoid the awkwardness of giving them nothing at all. Overall, these are a great set of super-sharp knives. I prefer a little heavier knife, which I thought you would get with the German design, but it's fairly light. That said, it cuts through anything like butter. Some reviewers comment on how they will "rust" in no time if they are left wet or uncleaned.....that is to be absolutely expected of any steel blade.
