Listen, I'm a 6' 2" guy at 465lbs. The chair is incredibly solid and you can tell as you put it together. I sent many chairs to their heavenly homes overtime but this chair is FINALLY what i've been looking for. I'm most concerned about durability, width, and comfort. Period. The chair is pretty but i have read that the pleather (play leather) breaks down overtime. And you know what? I don't even care. This thing feels incredible and it supports all the areas i need supported for long studio sessions and long design or corporate settings. I'm so very pleased with this thing that i'm talking in circles. The instructions are straight forward and easy to follow. And the thing even has a massage connection activated via USB. That was a plus for me. I didn't even realize it had this attribute. I'm a guy that is tall and big so when i fly on planes i use a seatbelt extension and i avoid chairs with arms regularly because they cut into my thigh and cause pain and discomfort. This chair is the perfect size for me. Can't wait for my future studio sessions! Never seen a chair this strong with this much support at a price point like this. And it delivered on the last day of the projected window...lol so it was still on time. The box arrived beat up (thanks fedex) but the contents were undamaged! YES! This is a no nonsense office chair, like heavy armor. I was tired of office chairs that died in three months, so I went with this one. The price was right, the specs were overkill, and it looks good. I am 6'4", so a big chair is what I wanted, but this could handle someone 6'10". So I am pleased with the size of the seat, though it might be a tad too wide for the armrests, but I'll get used to it. A headrest would be nice, but that is why I have a big man's La-Z-Boy. The weight factor is overkill for me, as 500 lb is over twice my weight. When I sit down, the shock absorber barely moves. But that is a plus, as it should last a while. This is a solidly made chair, over 50 lbs, no short cuts on part strength. The plates, screws, armrests, base, rollers, it's all made to last under a load. I am pleased with the way it is built. It's quiet, spins easy, rolls easy, rocks properly. There are spots where the welds are not as refined as they could be in the base, but they aren't in easy sight. You have to look for the rough spots. One note on assembly. If you tighten the back support screws before everything is attached, it can cause grief. Gaps, the armrests not aligning, all sorts of issues can happen if the back support can't wobble around during assembly. Get every single screw inserted and the leg assembly fully tightened with rollers and shock absorber, then tighten the base mount and mount it. Then tighten the armrests. Finally, tighten the back support. That will save lots of grief in assembly. The thing that slowed my assembly was the sheer mass of the chair. It's not a casual project, be warned. But it is doable. The chair is not as comfortable as my La-Z-Boy (but nothing else is), but I can spend long hours in it without discomfort. And in time, it will conform to my shape, so it should improve. The arms are wide enough for my jumbo body Takamine, so it's guitar friendly. You could do a lot worse than this Chinese chair. ............ Additional note, 9 months later: The upholstery is the weak point. After about 6 months of use, the leatherette began showing cracks at pressure points (elbows, seat seams, etc). I've already gotten arm rest covers to slow the deterioration. I can see a beach towel covering the seat and back within another year. Otherwise, it remains a quality chair, structurally sound. It didn't take long for the foam to conform to my shape, and it's been a comfortable chair that has seen a lot of use. Additional note, 4 years later. I had to get a nylon glove fore the chair after 1.5 years, because the upholstery began flaking. It works well enough, though small pieces of the upholstery find their way loose and need to be periodically vacuumed. I also had to replace the piston after 11 months. I purchased this chair because I weigh 275 and I wanted something comfortable that supported me well. I've broken a number of cheaper chairs, so I thought I would try this one. It is pretty well constructed, and reasonably comfortable. I say reasonably comfortable because if the shape of the back does not fit your back, there is no adjustment to make it better. I find that after sitting in the chair for even a short time, my neck begins to ache from muscle tightening to support me head, The cheap chair I had at work could adjust the back so that this did not happen, so I think this chair should as well, but it doesn't. It was not too difficult to put together, although I was surprised how many pieces there were. I also found that at least a couple sets of screw holes did not line up well, so it was a fight to get all the pieces together. However, once assembled, it was pretty sturdy, and seemed to support my weight. I have bad knees and a bad hip, so it is hard to get out of a chair that is too low, and this chair seemed to maintain its height quite well. Then, it didn't. After about 9 months it began sinking occasionally. I thought I was not adjusting it correctly, so I kept with it, but it got worse over time. I researched the issue and found out there is a suspension part much like a gas filled shock absorber in a car, and it was not holding its air anymore. Since I weigh 275, and the chair is rated for 500 lbs, it would seem to me that the shock absorber should have been ample to support me - there is only me here - no kids jumping on the chair, and I guarantee I am not jumping on it! Apparently I either got a bad part, or they use a cheap shock absorber. I messaged the supplier twice through Amazons website, and have heard nothing back from them. So, to sum up: no customer support, shoddy parts, wrong weight limit advertised, improper hole placement for construction, and inadequate adjustments. I don't recommend this product. ... show more
