Description

Slice and dice your way through piles of veggies or primal cuts of beef with this durable kitchen workhorse. It’s precision-forged form a single piece of high-carbon German Steel, then tempered and hand-ground for maximum sharpness. The full-tang handle features a grippy yet sleek wrap that provides a balanced, comfortable grip so you can cut with more confidence. With just the right amount of rock and gentle taper, this knife is perfect for both heavy chopping and fine slicing, making it a perfect all-purpose knife any way you slice it. Excess heat and detergent from automatic dishwashers can damage or stain the blades, so dishwashers are not recommended. Do not allow blades to soak in water. Do not allow food to remain on blade after use, as this may cause stains. In most cases, persistent stains can be easily removed with a standard stainless steel cleanser & polish. Use a sharpener and honing rod between uses to keep knives sharp. It’s recommended to use a whetstone or have your knives professionally sharpened once or twice a year. (See more sharpening instructions below.) To preserve sharp edges, use knives on a wood or soft plastic cutting board. Hard surfaces such as countertops, dinner plates, or glass cutting boards will dull blades. Knives are not made to cut bones, frozen foods, or other hard objects. Love this knife and it will love you back. Use extreme caution to protect against injury. These knives are extremely sharp. Never use a knife as a can opener, pry bar, screwdriver, wedge, or hand tool. Never handle a knife by the blade. Keep sharp edges pointed away from you when laying a knife down. Never attempt to catch a falling knife. Keep all knives away from children. Store properly in a knife block, roll, or other safe place.

  • High value, great geometry, room for growth. Get a sharpener!
I'm a bit of a knife nerd. I'm not gonna be that guy that lists all my knives, but suffice to say this is on the board with some pretty premium cutlery. Here's why I adore this thing: Oh, quick note before starting. Get a sharpener. No kitchen knife stays sharp forever and a sharp knife makes a world of difference. Remember, at the end of the day all a premium knife does is stay sharp longer. If you just get good at sharpening this could be end game. I recommend the King double sided whetstone, and watch the Adam Ragusea sharpening video. And practice! Alright, why I love this knife! - Room For Growth Even if you upgrade later, this can stay in your collection to ram through joints or hammer through a hard squash when you'd feel bad doing that with your other knives. Or when you just want to do a quick task and put the knife in the dishwasher, you can! No exotic wood handle to shrink or high carbon steel to discolor! - Serious Geometry: This knife is well balanced and it feels great in the hand. There's no heal (where the bolster extends all the way down to the back of the blade) so you can easily sharpen the whole thing with a single whetstone. - Guest-Proof It lives on the magnet board next all my others. When guests come over who don't know how to treat a knife I can hand them this! It doesn't feel like an insult because it's still a serious knife and I keep it razor sharp so it performs beautifully. But then I can watch them cut a sandwich directly on a stoneware plate without even one tear rolling down my cheek! Just chuck it in the washer, sharpen again, and back it goes. - Excellent Durability It's a soft steel so it doesn't chip and it sharpens easily. Bit of a plus or minus here, but if you have a real knife like this you should also have a sharpener. There's really no task this thing can't do. ... show more

  • It's a superior quality chef knife, better than high end Japanese chef knife..
I have used several high-end Japanese made knives. They are nice and sharp, but they chip very easily. Once they chip, even though I was so careful, there isn't much to repair them. On the other hand, these Babish German steel knives are sharp and more rugged. They can handle some abuse and no chipping. Plus the price difference is huge, $80+ for Japanese and $24 for this one. ... show more

  • Very impressed
Excellent knife that is easy to use. Great for everyday cooking. The knife has a good weight and feel in the palm. I needed to replace my old chefs knife and this was perfect. Was also very happy with the price point. You really can’t go wrong!

  • Sharp and premium
This knife is sharper, and stays sharp longer than other similarly priced knives I've owned. It feels very premium and nice! The handle has a good weight.

  • Great knife for price!
Babish knives are great for their price and we're a god send for a broke home chef like myself. I've never owned a serious knife worth taking care of and holding onto for years. This knife feels amazing in the hand and really has a look and feel that will make you feel like a real chef Chef Knife did come with small nicks or abrasions on the blade edge which I have seen on other reviews. I was prepared to return the knife when I decided to give it a few passes on my standard knife sharpener and it cleaned it right up. Got a smooth and very sharp edge in just a few minutes. Also purchased the Cleaver & Santoku knives which came pristine and very sharp out of the box. Overall I love my new knives and I recommend them to anyone, just be sure to check your blade and edge when they arrive. Love Babish and hope he continues to add to his cooking line. Between his videos and his inexpensive cooking tools he is bringing cooking new and delicious foods to many new households ... show more

  • What a knife!!!
This is by far one of the best values when it comes to chefs knives. It comes to you SUPER sharp and does a good job at keeping its edge. I have small hands, so other knives this size have felt cumbersome. I was so pleasantly surprised at how comfortable and … nimble?… it felt regardless of if I was chopping butternut squash or quartering strawberries. Keep the edge honed, and you’ll never have a reason to complain about this vital tool in the kitchen. ... show more

  • Feels good, cuts great
I like the weight and balance. It feels premium, and the grip fits comfortably in my hands. As long as I take care of this, keep it sharpened, I can see this lasting me a long, long time.

  • hard steel
Good blade, very hard so not able to be quite as sharp, but also doesn't lose the edge easily. Well balanced and works with my hands to prevent repetitive motion injury like I get with many knives.
