  • The chickens love it and so do we
Color: Grey
The MATICOOPX Automatic Chicken Coop Door Opener is a time saver and great protection for the chickens. The screen display is one of the reasons for purchasing this one. I makes it so easy to setup and also gives a battery readout. The light sensor works well, however we use the timer for when the door closes due to the coop being in the shade and did one time close earlier then we thought and one chicken was caught out. We let her back in on our evening check of the coop. The installation was straight forward, we did have to change the entry to the coop to fit our needs but every installation is different. ... show more

  • Makes being a chicken tender easy
Color: Green
I have had this door over a year and decided to write a review because of my recent experience with the door and the seller. This door is such a lifesaver. It allows my chickens to go out to free range as early as they want. They don’t have to wait on me to open their gate. And it closes at dark so if I’m not home before dark, my chickens are safe and sound in their house. The only issue I have had is when it rains the sand/dirt around it splashes up and jams the door. Usually an easy fix though. I would recommend, if possible don’t put it at ground level. This would alleviate that issue. It was easy to install. The batteries last a good amount of time. The recent issue I had was the aforementioned issue of dirt jamming the door. I tried rinsing it with water when I couldn’t get it unjammed by opening and closing the door like I usually do. DO NOT DO THIS. So the door quit working all together so I messaged the company to see if there was a part I could replace or anything else I could do. They offered to send me a new door! (And told me don’t spray it with water lol) they responded very quickly and obviously went above and beyond. ... show more

  • Died after a month and a half
Color: Green
Update: 1.5 months later and the door is now dead. I changed the batteries, installed and uninstalled, but it’s not coming back to life. Pretty disappointed since I really liked it initially. And now it’s past the date of return. So that’s money down the drain. Very disappointed. I bought this mainly because it was the cheapest in automatic door that can ship fast. It was initially installed using a power tool by friend who is a contractor. It stopped working after 3 days. I changed the battery but it didn’t work. So I uninstalled it. And as soon as it was off, it turned back on and started working again. I found out later that you’re not suppose to use power tools on this or it will malfunction. It has since been working well again after I installed it using a screw driver. Do not install it too tight! The door itself is metal and seems to be predator proof. It appears to be well built. The door can be configured so it either closes/opens on a set time or using the light sensor. I personally programmed mine to open at daylight using the light sensor, and to close at a set time (9:00PM). I do like to check on my chickens before I go to bed to make sure everyone is in the coop. You can also manually open and close it by pressing the up or down buttons for 3 seconds. This makes it really versatile. The light sensor can also be programmed on the amount of light it’s detecting. I find that if you set it to it highest setting on a mid sunny day, it will detect the right amount of light for closing and opening in the morning and night. The instructions for programming the door is written on the door itself, which makes it easy since you don’t have to keep looking for the manual, cause let’s be honest, most people don’t read them, and most of the time they end up in the trash. ... show more

  • Just installed...only time will tell
Color: Grey
Tenth month update....time did tell. As with many other reviews. It worked great this long, ten months. In the past month it has been getting the jammed door/red light signal, the door will open half way and stop. I have changed batteries each time, thinking that is the problem. I changed batteries last night, this morning...no chickens out. So, I loved this door for this long. No issues until about a month ago. Would I purchase again...no. This door has been under cover, not exposed to the elements at all. I think I should have gotten a longer use from it. We purchased this and installed a few days after we received. I was nervous about this purchase, as there are no reviews. First off, it is packaged great. Simple instructions. Very easy to install. We had to modify the hole on our coop and it was still a quick easy job. Setting the timer/light, open/close actually takes more time than the install. I feel the buttons are a little hard to push and take multiple pushes to move the intended setting. On the upside to that, the buttons are orange and my chickens went to town pecking them. The buttons resisted the pecking. :-) Even after install, I am checking on the chickens morning and night. I have read horror stories of chickens being caught in automatic doors, doors malfunctioning and not letting out on a hot day. These are the things that make me nervous, with an non-review item. However, several days in it is working as intended. I will update again in a few more days. If this continues to work, it will be a great door for a great price, compared to some of the others. ... show more
