  • I’d find a cheaper one they do the same thing.
Style: 7" Soldering Microscope-AD206
I liked everything about this product. Really I did truly it was awesome. However, if you are buying this for the purpose of viewing a coin, you can just as easily get one of the ones that is Wi-Fi adaptable and view the screen of your iPhone like I do. Yes I bought two of them. That way I get a different perspective of coins when I need one. I just spent under $20 for one and after I remembered what I paid for this one, I realized I could have found a much better price because it basically does the same thing as the $20 one. Although it has lights on the side,, sometimes they can cause more problems then benefit as they create shadowing. Which is unnecessary if you are trying to grade Coins especially trying to find a double die error in Coins. It makes it a lot more difficult so I have to remove the lights for that aspect. The way it zooms is really awesome but I have found that the remote control has a lot to be desired and it didn’t do like I had assumed it would. Overall the visual acuity is really clear and it is a great product. I cannot fault them for that. I hope this helps. Thanks for reading my review. ... show more

  • Great item if you're on a budget
Style: 7" Soldering Microscope-AD206
This scope is surprisingly good for the cost. Microscopes get ridiculously expensive, but if you are a hobbyist, this may be a good one for you. I purchased this model primarily to work on pcb's. It's great for small boards or cellphone repair, but a full size motherboard is not going to fit under this one :( I am doing some modifications to mine and will try to remember to upload pics when I am finished. It would be perfect if it moved horizontally even if it was just 4-6". If you are not needing the ability to take pics or make videos, you may be better off buying one of the smaller ones that can connect to a monitor or HDTV, but it is nice to have the image right in front of you (and with excellent quality). ... show more

  • Great product
Style: 7" Soldering Microscope+Endoscope-AD206S
I saw a scope like this at a Science center and wanted one for my home. It was easy to assemble. The handheld scope is perfect getting a close look at anything that can't fit under the microscope. Definitely worth the price.

  • Can see details wonderfully for coins.
Style: 7" Soldering Microscope-AD206
Works great for looking at coins. Easy to set up and use. Great detail. If you want pics of whole coins a penny is the largest you can get, but that doesnt bother me.

  • Excellent budget tool for soldering.
Style: 7" Soldering Microscope-AD206
This has been a great tool! I don't know why I waited for so many years to get one. I use it for soldering. I was torn between this and the AD207 and the AD407. I decided to save some money and have been very satisfied. Only problem was one of the bolt holes was stripped. The bolt would just fall out. I used a small piece of copper solder dewicking braid. It cinched right up. Doesn't require a lot of torque. 1 star off for the bolt. Wish I could do 4.5 stars. ... show more

  • Doesn't live up to expectations
Style: 7" Soldering Microscope-AD206
I purchased the unit since I do a lot of SMD Soldering. (Surface Mount Device). My eye's just aren't what they used to be. I had high hopes for this microscope from everything I've read & videos. But, as I have learned & as you will below, this microscope fell way short of my expectations. Make no mistake, I had no illusions of a lab microscope that runs $1k-2k. But this lacks the most basic things you would expect in a $100 Microscope. First I'll start out with the "CONs" CONS: 1) It doesn't keep the time if the power is removed. If you power-off the unit using the Switch Cable, it will not keep the time. There is no internal clock! Which frankly, I find utterly RIDICULOUS in this day & age. What will happen, is that when you power-off the unit using the Switch Cable & power it back up at some-point, the clock will start at the last time you set the date & time. To get around this ridiculousness and keep the time, don't power-off the unit using the Switch Cable. Keep it on. Then, power the unit off on the front panel. This way power is still going to the unit through the USB port. Yes, you will need to unplug the two spotlights from the back of the base if you don't want those to remain lit. I thought that perhaps the firmware required updating. So I go to the Andonstar website to download the latest firmware. Only to find out they don't provide firmware downloads. And even if they did, there's nothing documented either in the manual or ANYWHERE online on how to do it. I'm taking 1/2 star off for this. (Which I think is fair) 2) The manual "leaves-much-to-be-desired". It covers the "BASIC" assembly and operation. It DOESN'T doesn't cover the settings in any detail. I'm still trying to figure out the modes & what settings are in each mode! I'm still finding menus. Example: (I found this by mistake). While in Video mode; Press the "+" button on the remote, and you get a "Line Setting". Yes, this carries over to photos. Here's the odd thing, while in the Photo mode, if you press the "+" button, the "Line Settings" menu, doesn't appear. I'm taking a 1 FULL star off for this. (What good is the unit if you can't navigate the system !! ... "for crying out loud") 3) There is, what appears to be, a "Battery Icon" in the lower right hand of the display that always goes on & off each second. I've done Google searches, and have found nothing. If anybody knows what this is, please post it. 4) There are 3 LEDs on the top of the unit, but there is no explanation in the manual what these indicate. Perhaps the red one (in my case), has something to do with that "Battery Icon" that flashes on & off. WHO KNOWS...??? 5) The focuser seems a bit tight. 6) The screen zoom is GREAT, but... when taking a picture, what you see on the screen, is NOT what you get in the picture. I've also included a photo of both so you can see for yourself. (is this a bad thing? - potentially, especially if you have to document your work) I'm taking another 1/2 star taken off. When taken all together, I'm seriously considering returning the unit & purchasing a better one and a different brand. The problem is, that most of the microscopes at the sub $400 range come from 1 manufacturer. Then the various OEM's brand them. Take a look at the Remotes, they're all identical. Look at the front panel buttons, they're all the same. I fear I'll be swapping-out one for another ! Just an FYI: The remote requires (2) AAA batteries. (NOT INCLUDED) The Micro SD Card is (NOT INCLUDED) either. It's not all bad, it definitely works for what I need it to do. Solder PCBs with Surface Mount Devices. As you can see in the photos, the images are close-up, nice brightness, nice contrast and has nice sharpness. I'd also like to point out that the photos taken were WITHOUT the two spotlights. (Using only the microscope LEDs). Additionally, there are several individual things I like a lot about the microscope. PROS: 1) The UV Filter This essentially protects the camera lens. As I said above, I use this for SMD Soldering of PCBs. Rosin Core Solder when soldering, emits smoke/fumes/vapors. If this smoke/fumes/vapors come in contact with the lens, it could "eat" away at the lens. The UV filter eliminates that. You also have the added benefit of the filter eliminating UV light, making your pictures and screen truer to actual. I further protect the UV filter by using a 12volt DC fan to pull the smoke/fumes/vapors away as well, just to be safe. 2) The Spring loaded clips This is another nice feature (that many other scopes don't have), These are especially helpful while soldering to keep your PCB in-place and keep it from moving while soldering. VERY HANDY ! So overall, I give this 3 stars, and I think that's generous. ... show more

  • Met my expectations-GREAT PIC
Style: 7" Soldering Microscope-AD206
I bought this microscope to solder SMD components. The picture quality of the microscope is sharp and with the led lights on the side, the illumination is great! The pic I included is from an esp32-cam showing the 0 ohm resistor between the PCB antenna and the external antenna! Very happy with product. The only compliant is the right side led light is loose! The included pic was taken with the microscope. ... show more
