The heat coming off the exhaust hose from the portable AC unit can add degrees to the atmosphere the unit has to cool and therefore has to work harder and use more electricity in the cooling process. This insulated cover provides a better alternative as it can be wrapped around an existing installed vent and velcroed closed easily in lieu of the older style of insulated sock. This older sock caused the hose removal from the unit, collapsing the hose, inserting it into the sock, expanding the hose to the proper length, supporting the hose again to maintain direct exhaust to the window and reattaching to the unit. This hose sleeve eliminates the hassle and reduces the temperature around the hose that the unit has to cool. ... show more

These work fantastic for both portable TCL ac units we have with 5.9" exhaust hoses. When you initially get them they stink like the rubber they are made from. We let it air out, outside for a day and then put them on and went nose blind to the smell within an hour. Don't smell it after a couple days use at all when coming home now. They insulate extremely well which was actually surprising for as thin as they are and the gray color makes them look really nice. They are definitely an exact fit so make sure you take a tape measure to the exaught hose so you order the correct size. Upon writing this I realized I never received the elastic bands that are supposed to come with this. Luckily the fit was so exact it's tight on its own it's not going anywhere anytime soon. First things first, this hose wrap works and has had a noticeable improvement on our AC. I'm fairly certain it'll pay for itself with reduced electricity usage, so that's a win. There are some things I don't like though in terms of size. It just barely fits around the max size 5.9 inch hose. It does fit though, as stated in the description. Because it's such a tight fit, it was rather annoying to install. A second set of hands will help. And good luck getting those pretty curves like they show in the pictures. The other issue is length, and again, the product is as advertised. But for our fairly standard installation, it's just a couple inches too short. Not a major issue, since it still covers 90-95%. Just be sure to measure first before you buy if you have any doubt. I'm mostly satisfied overall. ... show more

This will drop the temperature of the exhaust pipe by around 28 to 32 degrees F in helping reduce radiating heat from the tube out of the room. Works well I ordered another one to complete the whole tube. You can see where the insulation wrap in not installed its 120 degrees F. In the first set of pictures 137 degrees F. Overall the AC works great but will need to make adjustments depending on room size and more. Note tube should be as short as possible for best results. But in my garage only way out is through the 10 foot ceilings ... show more

I have been putting this outside to air out for the last 2 days and still the chemical smell is so overwhelming that I have had a headache since I opened the package. I really thought this was a great tool for my portable AC but i don't think I can keep it with the horrific smell. Where I have to position my floor air conditioner for maximum distribution of cold air did force me to use a double length exhaust tube. In the afternoons, when the sun hits the area of the tubes, it was like the A/C was fighting the heat coming out of the long tubes. I installed two of these- one on each of the connecting tubes and what a big difference! If you just have a normal, one-tube exhaust flow, it will be even better! ... show more

The delivery on this was SO fast which I appreciated. We’re having a heat wave in California. The cover went on my venting hose easily and fits really well. The Velcro seems sturdy enough. The weight of the cover is the issue. It’s not thick enough to really do what it’s meant to do. It does feel less hot when you touch it but it’s still warmer than what I expected. I ended up wrapping a towel over the cover which was a significant help. Bottom line, the cover is not worth the price. I’m not going to return it because between the cover and a towel I’m getting what I needed - less heat. ... show more
