These cooling fin combs are good for small, isolated areas of dented-in fins. For areas where the fins are really pushed over, you'll need to use a different tool such as a pocket knife or screw driver to get the fins mostly vertical. Then, these combs will work to get the fins looking nice and straight. It would be great if the tips of the comb "teeth" were a bit tapered to make it easier to fit the comb into deformed fin areas. Also would be nice if the combs were made out of a tougher type of plastic so the fins don't chew up the plastic teeth over time. No instructions are included but the process is pretty straight forward. Pro tip: spray the area to be straightened with soapy water first in order to make the comb slip more easily through the fins. ... show more

Only needed one of the set for my damaged AC unit fins. By getting the whole set I was able to find the perfect sized one to fit my unit. With a little practice it worked great. After extended heavy use some of the teeth wore off but still usable. Better to have the tool break than my AC unit coil be punctured or damaged while straightening the fins. At least I found one that worked... Very hard to use since the comb part is square edged on both sides. Makes it hard to get into the fins to straighten. If it was tapered on one end it would help tremendously. Sucks that they are all like that... Now that I have the one that fits, I'm going to measure it and 3d print one that actually works like it should. ... show more

The fins on my unit were very messed up and trying to get this product to "rake" through them just ended up shredding them half the time. If you have small repairs to make this would work well. But if it's large sections you need to fix this won't work well

In all honesty, I am not quite sure on how to use this item. None of them seem to be as "Closed-separation-wise) as I need to open mine up. The combs are too far apart to work...thus, causing my fins to flatten, rather than open up.
