    • I am very satisfied with the product performance.
It was very difficult to install the screws, bolts and nuts with arthritic hands. It may have been easier to have push pins to readjust the legs instead of removing 2 bolts, 2 screws and nuts. It does save the air conditioner from falling out the window when installing and takes the weight off of dated, wood windows. Heavy duty bracket. This worked out great for me, mostly! I did not want to drill holes into my window frame to install an AC unit that I would be taking out again in the Fall so I purchased this support bracket. I also wanted to make sure that the AC unit did not fall from my 2nd story place and hit someone. It worked great, with a few notes: 1. The assembly part was a bit tricky for me as you have to install legs in a certain direction and I missed that part of the instructions but it was easy enough to undo and fix. 2. Also, it was hard to seal the air gap left in between the bracket and where the AC unit rests on it. This is not covered in any instructions I researched, including their online video. It might work better if you have two people to install the AC so you could drop it on top of some insulation you install on the bracket. I was sliding the AC onto the bracket myself so that didn't work for me. I used some painters tape to try to seal up the gaps that I could reach and it was fine for the summer. 3. I also had a problem when I removed the bracket for the Fall- it peeled off a bit of paint where the feet were resting against my outside wall. I covered the feet with painters tape in hopes that it will not do it again next year. With those notes, I would definitely recommend this support bracket for anyone who wants more support for their Window AC unit, especially if you do not want to have to drill holes in your house. I was able to install a 60lb AC unit by myself and not have to worry about dropping it during the process. ... show more

The Alpine Hardware Universal Window Air Conditioner Bracket may work in some cases but it has some serious design flaws and was completely useless for me. Installing a window unit in a garage workshop, I thought the bracket would provide solid support. The first problem that the long screws that connect the legs to the platform are impossible to tighten enough to keep the feet against the outside wall. The legs are just enough narrower than the platform arms that the legs swing free. I was concerned that vibration from the unit would cause them to fall and the weight of the AC would cause it to fall outside, ruining the AC and the window frame. To fix that I made a trip to the hardware store and bought four sets of screws, washers, and lock nuts. That at least kept the legs in place. (See photos) The next major flaw is the frame causes the AC to sit ½” above the bottom of the window frame. That means you’ll need to stuff a lot of foam (not included) to seal the large gap underneath the AC unit. The final flaw is that there is no simple or obvious way to attach the unit to the bracket. Normally the AC came with L-brackets that attach it to the windowsill, but the brackets raised everything so far above the sill that the included brackets wouldn’t reach. The side curtains aren’t sturdy enough to hold the AC in place so a bump to the front or back of the AC would send it crashing to the floor/ground. Rather than make another trip to the hardware store to work around the problems with the bracket, I cut a shelf for the sill from a 2x4 and build a small frame outside to help support the unit. I made it wide enough to attach brackets to keep the AC in place. If after reading this you decide to purchase this bracket anyway, be sure to watch the assembly video several times. It will save you a lot of trouble. The one-page, tiny print instructions in Chinglish are difficult to read and understand and they do not follow the “simple” steps shown in the video. Any product that, out of the box, requires that many updates, fixes, and work-arounds is not worth the time or the money. ... show more

I bought this for use with a new 12,000 BTU window AC. It was easy to put together, easy to install, and made the placement of the larger A/C unit into my window so easy. End of season and it was easy to remove. The only suggestion that I would have is to use a piece of clear tape over the levels so that they remain in place when you have to move it. Assembly is a pain. At first I was wondering why people were having trouble with the assembly. The included instructions seemed clear to me. Then I looked at everything else. Absolutely NOTHING is numbered or marked with a letter, like the instructions imply. Also, be sure to have a wrench, or at least two pairs of pliers or something on hand to screw the nuts into the long bolts. Because unless you have the strength of KRATOS, you will never get them screwed in by hand more than a couple turns. I'm short, assembly is a pain, but once you figure it out it's a very sturdy bracket that won't be going anywhere. ... show more

This air conditioner bracket is very well-made and very strong and will hold up to 200 pounds. If you want to put it together properly, don’t use the instructions. Watch the video instead. you can stop and start the video whenever you want step by step. It is not hard to assemble and I like the idea that you do not have to drill or screw anything. If possible, use a ratchet and an open end wrench on the nuts and bolts not a pair of pliers because you can strip the nuts.
