  • Definitely need more space for doing fish, thickness

  • Food prepped. Easier then canning. No preservatives.
Size: 5 Trays
The media could not be loaded. Super easy to set up. And works wonderfully. I've done apples, pears, strawberries, squash, bacon jerky and lemons. I love dehydrated lemon in my hot tea. For some reason the lemon is sweeter. I just use a couple in my tea and the magic happens. Squash garden was huge this year. So I hydrated it. Once liquid is introduced to it they plump right up. I use them for soups and casseroles. I can never keep enough dehydrated apples. I sprinkle a little cinnamon on them before hydrating. ... show more

  • Awesome Food Dehydrator
Size: 4 Trays
My son, the wannabe chef, killed his old food dehydrator, so when I came across this, I eagerly ordered it for him. He loves it! The only thing he says will take some getting used to is the temperature control; his last dehydrator did not have that feature. He's already used it with heirloom tomatoes to make his own "sundried" tomatoes, and they turned out well. ... show more

  • Dishwasher safe and quiet
My only experience with food dehydrators in the past is at school, so I'm a novice to this whole food dehydrator world, but I really really really want to make kale chips, because I like kale and no local store sells them. I began by unboxing this dehydrator. The racks can be stacked compactly or expanded for more space, which I liked. There was one rubbery mesh mat meant for fine herbs so they don't fall through the rack, which I also appreciated. Reading through the instruction manual (always read the manual first, people!) I was concerned that the "dishwasher safe" racks had to be removed before the drying cycle. I always run my dishwasher overnight. I'm asleep when the drying cycle goes off. I'm not going to wake up to take out my dishwasher-safe racks. Does this mean I have to hand-wash them? Part of the reason I went with this dehydrator was because it was dishwasher-safe! Laziness won out. The racks went in the dishwasher. I even put some in the bottom rack, because they were too big to all fit on the top. No problems! I've washed them several times in the dishwasher now, and they've held up just fine. The lid is a bit tight when putting it on, which I don't remember from the first time I put it together, but it still works with a bit of attention. Not sure if it somehow shrank in the dishwasher, but eh, it still works. One bunch of kale was just a bit too much for this dehydrator to handle, so I had some leftover kale after filling it up. I might have been able to fit it all in, but I didn't want to overload anything the first time I used it. I didn't have a problem, though: all of the kale dried well no matter how crowded or high the racks were. The dehydrator works in Celsius degrees. It displays Fahrenheit, but each increment is 5° C, so your Fahrenheit degrees are odd amounts. I wanted to dry my kale at 125°F, but I had to choose between 122°F or 131°F (50 or 55°C). I went with 131°F for 2 hours, which wasn't quite enough, so I added an extra hour and the kale turned out crispy and crunchy but not burnt. When you turn it on, it shows 00:00. You then have to hit Time to set the time (defaults to 10 hours, so go up or down from there in half hour increments) and Temp to set the temperature, and then press Power again to get it started. It's fairly quiet, like a steady fan, when it's running, and it beeps once when finished. No reminder beeps that I noticed, but it was loud enough that I heard it while in the basement. As stated earlier, all the racks are dishwasher safe. There were a lot of kale and seasoning crumbs that fell through the racks to the bottom by the time I was done taking it all off, which has me slightly concerned for something more leaky, like if I try to make jerky, but I was able to wipe down the bottom easily enough after the kale. All in all... it works. It dehydrates well. If you're okay with the temps being not increments of 5°, I can't see any reason why this dehydrator would give you problems. ... show more

  • Good for Beginners
There is limited space between the tray layers so do not over stuff. It is good to dry herbs if you have a herb garden. It comes with a booklet to help you with the dehydrating process for the different food types. It is easy to wipe clean, I have not submerged it in water or added it to a dish washing cycle. I do notice it holds smells and collects crumbs. For a beginner this is a good machine. ... show more

  • It just works! Great to make crispy apple chips!
Size: 4 Trays
Nice unit. You need per instructions to clean and let it run 30min 1st to get off any residue b4 you use it. I made apple chips and it says in instructions that 8-12hours.. but they still felt a bit soft to me so I ran it an extra 4 hours to make them crispy and more like hard chips. It has 4 tiers and a lid, plus a thinner sheet for spices to dry out on.. The plastic trays do seem flimsy and brittle, so don't drop them or they might crack and chip. Overall happy. It does take up counter space.. but can't wait to make some beef-jerky with it. ... show more
