I wanted to wait a bit to review as so many products are reviewed at receipt, giving you know idea how they perform or hold up over time. I am particular about knives. My daily go to is a Four Star II Henckel professional set (about $800). My wife got these as she thought I would appreciate the look and design, having them on a magnet rack for show rather than use. However, at first cut I was sold. I was worried about corrosion as most of these cheap Chinese knife sets will rust if not immediately cleaned and oiled. I would not recommend sending them through the dishwasher, however I have left them out overnight before cleaning and not a spot of corrosion. Edges hold up very well and take to sharpening easily. Seldom need honing. The cleaver is a monster! We cook beef ribs often and it simply chops through. Cutting St. Louis style pork ribs is a breeze. The main chef knife, which resembles a bowie knife is hefty and adds confidence to your cuts. Balanced and comfortable. My favorite though is the oddball pointed knife. Not sure what they call it, it's not a pairing knife or de-boner or filet knife, but does all three well. If you are on the fence, pull the trigger, you will not be disappointed. ... show more

I bought these to replace a mismatched set of Henckels I have had for several years. Those are going to the RV. These knives arrived and I was skeptical that they were well made. I was wrong. The handles fit very nicely and seem like good quality. The blades are solid and feel durable. They arrive VERY sharp right out of the box. The biggest downside to them is that after you use them you have to carefully hand-wash and dry them. Not really a big deal unless you are not careful, as mentioned, they are sharp! Beautiful & very, very SHARP! I simply moved the knife/ block over to wipe surrounding countertop and felt a slight tingle,like a few tricks of a needle, very subtle. It took me a few minutes and drops of blood to realize I had cut myself thru that light contact. Loved the quality, style, look, and variety of knives. The quality is worth the price for the knives themselves. The extras were less impressive. Although they came with protective gloves, a sharpener and carrier... they were all flimsy and very basic. The "protective" carrier was thin and no match for the knives it held and only had SMALL plastic pieces protecting just the tips of the knives with most of the blade exposed. The sharpener looked like a cheap keychain trinket. Overall the knives are worth it. Would have paid the same without the crappy extras which is the ONLY reason these knives get 4 stars. ... show more
