Anyone that says the magnet is not strong enough did not remove the metal strip on the back. If you want to attach it to your fridge you have to pull off the metal strip on the back. I thought I was going to have to return it as it did not attach to the fridge right out of the box, until I read the instructions (d'uh) that explains how to remove the metal strip. I saw some mixed reviews…some of the negative ones aren’t even for this product which is odd and makes me feel bad for the seller. But I did see some in which the magnet was weak and the knives wouldn’t stay straight. I decided to try it anyway. I am pleased to say did NOT have that problem. This knife holder has a strong magnet that is consistent across the whole thing. My Global and JA Henkle knives stay put. Its so sleek and minimal. This knife holder looks beautiful and works great. I adhered it with 3M tape, not included. I waited 48 hours after applying tape to wall. Then I applied the magnet to the tape and waited another 48 hours before putting the cover on the magnet and adding the knives. As you can see I have 16 knives on this and it is working great. Easy to install and does what it's supposed to do. The magnet is very, very strong -- take it from me, while you're unpacking and preparing for installation, don't let a finger tip stray into the space between the magnet bar and the backing! No more digging around in a drawer trying to find my favorite knife! This is a super strong magnet and holds my knifes extremely well. Words of caution: 1) When placing the knife, always hold it by the handle. This magnet is really strong and will pull the knife into place with the possibility of cutting your fingers. 2) When mounting the magnet onto the mounting base, be sure to aways hold the 'outside' of the of the magnet so not to pinch/cut your fingers. 3) Carefully think of where you want to mount it because once the magnet is attached to the mounting plate, I don't know that you'll ever get it off again. ... show more

I bought a 14" for my steak knives and a 24" for my cooking knives. I mounted both on the side of my fridge! I thought I was going to have to mount them on the wall but it was just a giant magnet right to my fridge. Both of them look fantastic and show off all my pretty knives.
