  • HIGH QUALITY RESIN - Fatwood, a type of kindling, is made from pine trees that are rich in resin. This resin content is what makes fatwood sticks burn so well. When burning fatwood fire starter sticks, it produces black smoke, but don't worry, this is due to the resin burning and is completely normal.

Description

Fatwood is entirely unique from traditional kindling in the way that it is completely waterproof and will light under any conditions! The high resin content means that you just need to hold a flame against the stick for a couple of seconds to light it. Even if fatwood gets rained on while burning, it will still stay alight.

  • Lights Up Fairly Easy and Smells Amazing
Size: 10 Pounds
This put a smile on my face when I opened the box simply because of the way it smells. It reminds me of a fresh cut Christmas tree. Another good thing is that they light fairly easily and stay lit because of the sap they are coated in. These are great to have and pack nice and small like kindling, but you don't have to use very many of them to get things going. I keep a mix of this with some other small pieces of wood I have and am ready to go anytime. You get quite a bit of these, and they should provide many fires as long as you are not just burning them like normal firewood. ... show more

  • Works well but it's odd bringing kindling in addition to firewood to the forest.
Size: 10 Pounds
These Fatwood Fire Starter Sticks do exactly what's advertised. They light easily, burn for a fairly long time, and smell really good. But it's odd bringing kindling along with firewood to the forest. Opening the box for the first time, you get a smell of fresh cut Christmas trees. I put six of the sticks in a bag and went camping. The first night, it poured for about 45 minutes. The wood we brought was wet on the surface but the wood laying around was soaked/damp. I put two of the Fatwood sticks along with a piece of cardboard into the fire ring and built a teepee fire. I put the lighter to the fire sticks and they lit up easily before the cardboard caught on fire. The next time I used them, it was pretty much the same thing: lit right up and lasted for a while. Overall, the Fatwood Fire Starter Sticks work as advertised. I have no complaints about them and would recommend them. To me, it's just odd to bring kindling to the forest. ... show more

  • Perfect for Camping
Size: 10 Pounds
This box of fire starter sticks is a must-have for any camping trip! They make starting a fire quick and hassle-free, even in challenging conditions. The sticks light up easily and burn steadily, providing reliable heat and flames to get your campfire going in no time. What I love most about these fire starter sticks is their convenience and effectiveness. They're compact and lightweight, making them easy to pack and carry. Whether you're camping in the woods or cooking over a fire pit, these sticks ensure you'll have a roaring fire without the need for newspaper or kindling. Trust me, they're a game-changer for outdoor cooking and keeping warm under the stars! ... show more

  • Nice quality Fatwood
Size: 10 Pounds
10 lbs. Fatwood Fire Starter Sticks. Be ready for pine scent overload when you open this box! A beautiful 10 pound box of pine fire starter. The sticks are uniform in size and very dry. The perfect size to start a camp fire or BBQ. These light very easily, and yes, they do billow black smoke, but that is what makes them work so well. The number of sticks included for the price seems like a good value. ... show more

  • Great natural fire starters
Size: 10 Pounds
This resinous pine wood is a great fire starter for wood or charcoal. It is naturally water repellant, lights easily and burns longer than paraffin/sawdust fire starters. The best thing is it smells like burning wood, not diesel oil. This 10 pound box from Superior trading company will last me a long time. It is not super resinous but definitely gets the job done. Made from reclaimed wood too. ... show more

  • It burns with a very sooty smoke
Size: 10 Pounds
We live on a wooded acreage that has all pine trees. We also use a wood stove for heating our home. Having this fatwood really makes starting a fire in the stove much easier. You can just light the end of a fatwood stick and then place it in among your kindling. It burns well but puts off an oily smoke that normally isn't a problem except on really cold mornings where I have to light wads of newspaper to get the air flow started up the chimney. Occasionally when cutting firewood, I find a section of tree that had a limb break off or some other form of damage. The wood around that "wound" is full of resin and is fatwood. I try and set that aside for kindling/fire starter since it is practically soaked through with resin. Just a small quarter sized piece will start a fire. This fatwood I got in this ten pound box doesn't have as much resin but it has enough to start a fire. One piece should be enough. I don't have to search for fatwood and break the cut piece into small pieces. This box of evenly cut pieces is so much more handy. Thirty dollars seems alot for added convenience but I'm super elderly and not getting any younger so everything like this helps. ... show more

  • Works great to start a fire
Size: 10 Pounds
I'm not sure if this is natural fatwood, but it burns well. It's not quite as resinous as the real fatwood I've found in the wild, but it gets the job done.

  • Perfect for my grill!
Size: 10 Pounds
When I first saw these on Amazon, I assumed it would be overkill for my grill. However, I was excited when I used them to light my charcoal Weber up quickly. Yes, these are large and thick fire starters, but the grill easily lit a bundle of charcoal up to a high temp with one of these starter sticks. That's awesome. It wasn't overly smokey either, which I was afraid of. I didn't want any overwhelming smoke or smell that would affect the taste. We also have a Solo Stove, which also uses these starter sticks. They work very well. It doesn't take long for them to start up and stay lit. Ten pounds should last me, at least in the summer! For $34, that's a good value. ... show more
