I was suprised to see these work better then I have ever thought, having used fatwood in the wild. They light quickly and burn surprisingly long. I'm glad I purchased these. Great for a fire pit, fireplace, ect.....Gonna keep done in my pack and truck for emergencies.

Can be smoky. Works very well. Doesn’t stay lit as long as Duraflame fire start block does, but if you have sticks and logs that aren’t soaking wet, you’ll have a good fire. I had logs that weren’t quite dry (but they were dry to the touch) with some half burned wood from a previous fire (very dry!) and I had to use about 5-6 of these starters for one fire. But they catch easily and burn well and definitely replaces kindling and you don’t need tiny sticks. ... show more
