  • Robust
Style: 0.5 L
When I removed the valve and saw that the o-ring was dry I took the valve apart and coated all seals and mating surfaces with silicone grease. I dislike dry seals. The plastic of this bottle is thick, it is sturdy. A strong squeeze barely gets a flex in it. Dropping it will not result in any damage, unless it lands on the valve. I would have liked a screw on cap protecting the valve. The valve is simple and "just works". Bottle should last a lifetime. ... show more

  • It's not metal it's plastic.
Style: 0.5 L
This is exactly what I was looking for my camping trip. Just read the details and be aware that it might look like some kind of metal but it's plastic. This is clearly laid out in the product description but my [I don't anything lizard brain thought it was aluminum].

  • One alcohol fuel bottle to rule them all...
Style: 0.5 L
I am a big fan of this fuel bottle, and from my searching, it seems to be the #1 item to store/transport alcohol fuel. It is certainly the professional way to go about backpacking with an alcohol or multi-fuel stove. Depending on the toxicity of the fuel one is using, it is a great item to use to ensure no leaks, because that methanol in denatured alcohol or HEET is some very nasty stuff if ingested or absorbed in the skin. I have been using Everclear for the guaranteed saftey at the bit higher fuel cost... while also allowing for spiked drinks on the trail, hah. Ok, so maybe you aren't convinced from just the safety perspective. This thing should have some great features above and beyond a home-brew bottle/storage solution, right? To that, indeed it does. First and foremost, it is a durable plastic bottle with a reinforcement ring around the neck. The overall weight is lighter than I expected. The screw cap is where the real safety and convenience come into play, though. The cap's threads are sealed via a snug-fitting O-ring, and the release valve is sealed by a spring-loaded rubber contact seal. It is simplicity itself, and well-crafted. To dispense the fuel, simply partway unscrew the plastic nut on top, which will allow some head room to push down on the assembly against the spring and open the contact seal, allowing fuel to flow. One caveat, push on the top button with the bottle upright if fuel is stored, because there will likely be some evaporated fuel under a bit of pressure, which will prevent sputtering when dispensing the fuel. edit: I am embarrassed to say that I forgot this step recently and the earlier hot day built up some pressure that sprayed a fine mist of alcohol up into the air and a bit on my head, fortunately it wasn't methanol Also, one drawback to the system is that if the bottle is held at too high of an angle while dispensing will allow fuel to flow out of both nozzles. I like the simplicity of the two nozzles, allowing one to act as an air inlet, but at the same time I feel it could have been made a little bit more fool-proof by instead having an air inlet with a simple check valve to prevent undesired fuel flow out the top side. Still, being careful to hold a full bottle horizontally, having some common sense, and practice will all make for a spill-free experience. This thing is near-perfect for dispensing small amount of alcohol fuel. Oh, and don't forget to shake a little bit of fuel out of the nozzle and tighten the top nut again in order to press the contact seal snug (not too tight). ... show more

  • Bombproof fuel bottle
Style: 0.3 L
Solid Fuel bottle. I had read review where the plastic was thin, but it is pretty stout. Mine is the .3L which equates to about 10oz and is the size you would want for backpacking using a trangia, unless you are doing extended trips. It will hold Denatured Alcohol, gas, or kerosene. While not stated, I would assume this would be safe for most any petroleum product, but I know that diesel is stored in yellow containers so that it is not mixed up which may be why they do not list it and other products. The valve is very good. I like that it screws down to put pressure on the seal and that makes it virtually spill proof while stored and free flowing when in use. It also has a metal ring around the threads to keep them from warping. It adds a little weight if you are going for lightweight, but it adds to the durability. The valve has two spouts so that it can vent. This is good and bad. With the free flow design, if you tip it over all the way, it will come out both sides if the fuel level allows. If you have more than half a bottle you will want to open the valve before you start tipping it and only tip as far as needed. If you tip it all the way, it will come out the top spout until a vacuum is formed and it starts sucking air. The other option is to keep your finger over the top spout. This is not a big deal, it just takes a little common sense or some experience to figure it out. In the directions on the bottle, it does show depressurizing the bottle before tipping it over. On a hot day, this is definitely a good idea or you may have fuel coming out with some force and have a mess. The red screw top can spin all the way off, so be careful not to lose it. It shouldn't be that big a deal since you don't need to screw it that far for it to operate correctly, but just a heads up. I would hate to lose it in the middle of a trip and have the possibility of fuel leaking everywhere. It also has a small loop as part of the valve to attach it to something. I don't know that it is trustworthy enough to hang the bottle off of, but it might be. It could definitely be used to help secure it so that it cant jump out of a pocket or something. This valve will not fit other types of fuel bottles well. Some people have forced it and made it work a time or two, but the threads do not match up and it ends up leaking. ... show more

Es una botella de plástico, bastante dura que no se dobla al tacto. La boquilla es muy segura y a prueba de fugas. Me encantó.
