My backpack stove uses alcohol fuel which burns hot under any conditions at any altitude, but the fuel is highly volatile and must be stored/carried safely. MSR designed this bottle for exactly that purpose. I’ve seen cheap “so called” fuel bottles leak, evaporate and in one case actually explode so beware of that when shopping. Great fuel bottle, holds fuel and doesn't leak. Seems very well made, it's super light. I have an msr dragonfly and bought two of these to go with it, they work great. Other reviewers mentioned weird smells, I didn't have that experience. I'd recommend these in a heartbeat.

I did a few longer motorcycle rides over the summer and strapped these bottles to my bike. Since I was up in the mountains and on state forest roads I wasn’t always near a gas station. I bought a couple of bottle holders that clamp onto my crash bars / bag savers. They support up to 2.75" diameter bottles. These bottles didn't fit, as the bottles are actually 2.875" diameter. Thankfully, I had a cutter that could cut through be rigid base of my bottle holders, and thereby enable the base to spread open to make it fit. Had they been manufactured to the dimensions reported, it would have been a perfect 5 star review, but because they are bigger, finding bottle holders that work with these will always be a challenge, unless I use soft bag style holders. They are clean, look good, and two of these should be enough to salvage any rides. ... show more

Leakproof cap did not leak over 600 miles. Yes, you will probably overfill and spill a bit when filling it as the bottle is tall and narrow.
