This gate has worked wonderfully for us. We have it on our stairs to keep my toddler from climbing them. The product was easy to install, looks nice and works very well. We did have an issue with my toddler pulling to hard on the gate and snapping one of the clips off. I contacted the seller and within a few days, they shipped me a replacement gate. I love this gate. I get real claustrophobic with other gates that stay in place. I love that this retracts out of the way when it is not needed. It keeps my 2 year old and my German Shepard out of rooms I don't want them in. The only thing is that it is not sturdy against a German Shepard jumping on it, which is to be expected. Our dog is usually pretty good, but occasionally gets excited when someone shows up and jumps on the gate and breaks it. I love this gate so much that I don't care, I just keep ordering new ones. I would still rate this a 5 because that is my own fault when he breaks them. ... show more

I recently purchased a retractable baby gate, hoping it would keep my bulldog out of certain areas, but it has proven to be less effective than I expected. The main issue is that when stress is applied to the attachment at the bottom, it frees up, allowing my dog to slip right through. Despite being designed for easy retractability, it really should have come with an optional clasp to lock it down securely when needed. On the positive side, the gate is very simple to install and works well for its intended purpose—keeping babies and less mischievous pets contained. However, for anyone with a clever and determined dog like mine, it doesn't hold up. If the manufacturer could address this flaw with a more secure locking mechanism, it would be a much more reliable product. Until then, it’s only suitable for situations where your pets aren't prone to testing the gate's limits. ... show more

This baby gate is perfect for securing the top of our stairs. It not only looks nice, but it also works perfectly. It is very easy to open, close, and lock one handed. It feels extra secure since it is actually drilled into the wall. It has held up to my baby pressing up against it.

Works, but durability was not what I expected for a baby gate. I love that when retracted its out of the way and takea up very little room. Not easy to operate one handed, not even close. Only like 3 bounces(from toddlers) and its stretched, and 1 part is starting to fray. I will definitely continue to use it till it no longer works though. . ... show more

I was able to install three gates with one packet of the included screws and I still have a few left over. The gate comes with two sets of mounting brackets and hooks, as well as thick and thin adapters for if you have baseboards. One thing to make sure of, is the rolled portion of the gate really needs to be on the left side of the opening. I tried one the other way and while the gate will close, it's too flexible when installed that way. With the included extras it's possible to mount the other set of clips and move the entire gate if needed to change locations. The gate comes off the clips with a push button latch. Pretty much push down on the button and unlock it, then lift the whole thing up to remove. Locking and unlocking is even easier. Push down on the large button on top and turn. A smart toddler or preschooler could probably learn how to open it if they are tall enough to reach. We got ours to keep our small dog out of certain rooms at times. The nice thing is the roll up gate it there waiting should we need it but out of the way if we don't. Overall the gate seems sturdy and the install kit make it very easy to install. You will need a drill, a Philips head bit, a hammer to set the included drywall toggles should you not have a stud, a stud finder is helpful, and an appropriate sized drill bit should you need the toggles. The kit includes short and long screws, drywall toggles and a full size placement guide. ... show more

We did not want our pets in our bathroom and closet. But we wanted a gate that did not have a bar we had to step over in the middle of the night. There are very few gates that meet this requirement. There are several things nice about this gate. 1) When it is open, it is fully open, with nothing to have to step over. (this could also be helpful at the bottom of stairs, to not have a trip hazard) 2) It has nothing horizontal on the gate (other than the very top) that a child or pet can use as a step to get over it. 3) It is pretty easy to latch, but would require some strength for a child to unlatch. 4) It is able to span a variety of widths, and is a nice height. There is not a lock. If this feature is important to you, this is not the gate for you. I think a very young child would not be able to open the gate, but they get pretty smart pretty fast. It has been great for keeping pets out. Also, it does require physically screwing into either walls or woodwork. Technically, either is pretty easy to patch later, but for some people this is a problem. It was not super easy to put up. It came with a lot of parts and at first seemed overwhelming, but they just include parts for different applications. (In the doorway, in front of the doorway, accommodating a baseboard, etc.) We just put ours in the doorway, so the other parts we could throw away. Also, the template wasn't exactly correct on the "hinge" side, so we did have to move a couple screws. Then the instructions incorrectly showed the top fastener image, and so we had to take it off, as it was upside down. Make sure you allow room for the large piece to fit over it. The way we had placed our hooks, it was a little tricky getting the gate hooked because of the wood trim, so we just turned them around and they're fine now. ... show more
