I bought these gates for my dogs. I have 2 clever puppies. And they will test a gate and find the flaws! These look good and are not bulky at all! They lock with a quarter turn of the knob and unlock by lifting the know and a quarter turn back. Very easy. Comes with a great cut sheet that you can tape to your wall and know EXACTLY where to place your screws. 8 screws (supplied) and your done! I don't know if they are intended for outside but I have one on my deck to keep my buddies safe and in eye range and I have not had any issues at all. It's gone through all 4 seasons (Live in the NorthEast) along the shore so you can't ask for any worse conditions and they still work and look as good as new. I gently hit it with the 'ol pressure washer and it looks good as new after a super nasty pollen season! I have no hesitation when I tell you to BUY BUY BUY!! Just come back and thank me later. Also you can see im a real life Buyer. The best bang for the buck here on Amazon for sure! I'm just mad how much money I wasted on crap gates before I found this one. And before you ask ... My Corgies have tested the gate. They can't sneak under or push through! But my lord did they try. They thought I bought another pushover chocho gate like the last time. My Bucky and Pepper have given up on trying to defeat these gates ! Plus these are just a few screws. So no major permanent damage to deal with when you feel it's time for them to come down. We have it in an unconventional spot and at an angle. Also I technically put it backwards from what the directions say to install it. There’s only a few downsides, install- 1. the install was a bit confusing. It would have been nice if there was a template for installing the brackets because I had to take them on and off a million times and draw on my wall a bunch to ensure they were spaced properly. I still don’t think I got it 100% right. But some sort of template like they give you with tv wall mounts would be perfect. 2. When closing sometimes it’s tricky to get the bottom clip on properly, however that could be due to the install, since it was done backwards, at an angle in our house. I think if you’re installing it the recommended why and not getting creative then you should be fine. Positives though are that this can be used creatively. It doesn’t take up much space, just a small roll on the wall out of the way. Our old gate was always there and had to be completely removed if not being used and was a hassle. So this is nice to just roll out when we leave to keep the dogs out of the kitchen. It is also quite sturdy, we have a 70lb lab and a 25lb mini Aussie (who is very enthusiastic) and neither have been able to break it or get through it since being installed 4 months ago. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This gate was fairly ease to install with a power drill. It comes with a piece of paper to hang up to help guide where to drill in the hooks. When it’s retracted, it takes up little space which is nice. It doesn’t stick when opening and closing. It is stable when it is in use. It can with stand my toddler trying get through it. Easy to install, plus they look better than the normal kind in my opinion. The retractable function is fantastic for those of us who get frustrated with latching and unlatching other kinds of baby gates.- plus our year-old granddaughter isn’t able to work it. Which is a huge benefit.

    • No good for jumping dogs
We bought this as a dog gate for a growing puppy, and picked extra tall for a larger dog. I think this gate would be great for kids. We loved that it's retractable and easy to install, and the locking mechanism makes it a bit more rigid. I think this would be great for separating spaces for kiddos. However, this is also billed as a dog gate and there's where we go wrong. If you have a dog that can get his paws over the top of this gate, doesn't even have to be a misbehaving dog, just one that's excited, a dog's weight will render this gate pretty useless, especially at the bottom of stairs. The locking mechanism helps a little to make it more rigid but it's no match for an excited dog. I don't think this should be billed as a dog gate, or at least, it should be made clear that it should be for smaller dogs only. It's not strong enough to hold even a mid-sized dog back. If, when your dog jumps, his paws are taller than the gate, this gate will not work for you. UPDATE: the makers of this gate offered me a full refund after reading my review, which certainly doesn't fix the product, but still goes a long way in my book, in a time where I consider customer service is a form of currency. I didn't ask for a refund, they didn't have to offer it, and it was very appreciated, especially around the holidays. I added another star just for the customer service. ... show more

This gate was originally purchased 8 months ago and after only a few months, the bracket broke off of the wall. We did secure it with a drywall anchor and the plastic cracked and broke. Upon writing the company for a replacement t bracket they got back to me very quickly and will send me not only a replacement bracket but a new gate as well. I really appreciate the fact that they were so attentive to what I was asking for. I really don’t need a gate but they are sending all new brackets and gates and that is so appreciated for the utmost of safety. Thank you so much!
