I purchased the Evenflo Position & Lock Baby Gate with hopes of finding a simple, budget-friendly solution to secure my home for a puppy. While the gate does the job, there are several drawbacks that make it far from ideal. Pros: Affordable: This is one of the most budget-friendly gates available, which might appeal to those looking for a temporary solution. Aesthetic Design: The farmhouse-style finish adds a touch of charm and blends well with rustic or neutral home decor. Pressure-Mounted: It’s easy to install without the need for tools or drilling into walls. Cons: Flimsy Build: The materials feel cheap, and the gate doesn’t provide the robust security I was expecting. It feels like it could be easily dislodged with minimal pressure. Lacks Durability: After a few uses, the locking mechanism seems to loosen, making me question its long-term reliability.     • Stylish but Functionally Flawed
I really wanted to love this baby gate. The dark wooden and black color scheme is beautiful and fits perfectly with my home. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The locking mechanism is terrible—it’s not smooth at all and takes way too much effort to operate. On top of that, the gate doesn’t align well with the walls, making it feel unstable and unreliable. I would not trust this to keep any space secure or to protect my child from potential dangers. As much as I appreciate the aesthetic, safety is the top priority when it comes to baby gates, and this one just doesn’t deliver.     • Still works, just a bit more trouble
I have the older model with the metal bracket that you push down onto the bar to secure. At first I thought this new version didn't work at all, it didn't make sense until I viewed the product videos. Now that I know the plastic guard slides off the wooden end to adjust and then slides back to secure, I will keep it. I would just say progress is sometimes not progress....much prefer the older model. The plastic guard is a bit finnicky to work with, imo. However, all other options require installation and rather intricate adjustment (you almost need 2 people to secure most other kinds in place). So this is the best option for something quick and simple. You can even use 2 or 3 in a doorway, positioned one above the other, to secure a cat in a room. At least, in theory....will be trying that out today :) ... show more

    • Very easy to use
This was very easily to use . I was able to open and close in seconds. I got it to keep new puppy in his room but unfortunately I learned he was a very good jumper. I was so surprised. I wish They came in a higher height.

    • I was expecting the"old school" tension type, it's not. :~(
I was expecting a lever tensioner as the "old school" ones were. This has a sliding system, with knotches and a metal hook thingy that slips intot he knothces. Only problem is it's readjusts every time you move it. Granted, I could zip tie tis to stay affixed but the adjustment knotches have a range of too tight, too losse, even with the pastic cup. Enough that a jiggling from a child(puppy in or case), she has been able to knock it down. Back to Amazon it goes... ... show more
