  • THESE ARE THE BEST OUT THERE! Can set up holders in multiple rooms & move around!
Seriously, I'd buy 50 of these if I needed to but with how easy they are to install, we only need two and can move them to like 6 different areas in the house! They're very wide, very easy to open, easy enough to step over (and i'm 7 months pregnant). It's so nice to have the little metal pieces that hook into the wall because we can make my daughter's play area smaller or bigger depending on where i'm working in the house. We have the hooks installed in the kitchen, in our kitchen nook, in the back of our (long) kitchen by the fridge where the dog sleeps, and might add more once baby #2 gets here. We haven't had any problems with durability, and my baby likes to shake the tiny jail bars when she gets grumpy. They do come as raw wood and messy hands get them dirty so you might want to add a safe coating onto them to make them last longer. I've been too lazy. My only concern would be if someone had stairs, they might not want to put these at the top of stairs. I'm just guessing but with the way they're designed they do give a little sway (because of the three seconds) and I'd want something a little different (although I haven't considered what that'd be...im just suddenly glad we don't have a two story house). 5/5 all around for a 1 story! :D ... show more

  • Great Value
This is an extra long baby gate. I have a 60lb pit mix that I want to keep confined in the kitchen when I'm at work. I looked around to find another gate this long without luck - I was skeptical of this gate due to the low price. This gate works perfect for me. My dog respects the gate even though she could easily jump over it or run right through it. Pros: 1) super long, 2) affordable, 3) easy to install, 4) low enough to step over but tall enough to create a barrier (i'm 5' 2") 5) neutral color. Cons: 1) not very sturdy, 2) hassle to lock and unlock the gate, 3) wood looks unfinished Overall, I'm very happy with this well priced, extra-long gate. ... show more

  • A bit hard to slide, but there are ways to get around it
This was the only gate I could find on amazon that fit my space for less than $100. Because of the price, I'm fine with putting up with a bit of the more inconvenient parts of it. It's difficult to get the latch on on both the bottom and top. It would not be great for an area with high foot traffic, where you need to be going in and out a lot. I am able to walk over it easily, so I rarely ever have to try to fit the latch back in. It's not very sturdy when extended to its max size, but so far my very rambunctious toddler has not managed to knock it over, so it's doing it's job! ... show more

  • Good for the price
It’s a nice gate. Very easy to assemble and remove. Only thing I recommend is if you have pets I’d recommend getting something more durable.

  • Ok for temporary not long term.
I use this gate in a 6’ doorway to my family room to keep toddlers and or dogs in or out. Positives: difficult for kids to open (even my 8 year old struggles) but easy to open one handed for an adult. Installing was relatively easy and straight forward. Negatives: If using for kids be careful, we’ve had lots of arms and legs get smashed in the railing when someone slides it back and forth. It’s been a year of using this gate and the “wood” is splitting around the bolts that hold the 2 pieces together. The gate is long and awkward, so when not in use it always seems to be in the way! Overall it’s okay, I’m looking for a new one after just 1 year so… ... show more

  • Simple, Gets the Job Done
This is very effective and easy to use. The only caveat is that you will need to mount it to a wooden surface on both ends.

  • This is what you are looking for!
I bought this three years ago to close off the opening between my kitchen and family room - an odd 8 foot gap that is angled rather than straight across. In fact, when it finally broke (our fault, see below), I bought another to replace it. Here’s what I can tell you: - It held up to my child standing on it and shaking it to try to get into the kitchen. - the wall hooks have not come out of the wall at all with this rattling. They are placed at corners of the wall and in beams, so that helps. I don’t think it would hold up as well in plain drywall. - Cats, four people (two adults, two preteens) tripping on it, and more because it’s in a heavy traffic area and it stood up well! So here’s the thing, we did finally break it after three years BUT... about six months in, my husband caught his shoe on this gate climbing over it and put a slight crack in it (baby was just starting to crawl). We taped it (not even with duct tape), and it still lasted another two plus years - and many more tripping incidents - before finally giving up the ghost. This gate is high quality and well worth every penny. I definitely recommend it for helping make baby (or even dog) safe and contained. ... show more

  • Not the best, even for the money.
I went with this gate because I have 2 entryways that are each 76", so I needed 2, and everything else for that size was nearly double the price. Where do I begin? Right out of the box, the first thing I noticed is that the wood was literally cut and put together. It's not sanded well, not treated at all, and theres even shaving pieces poking put from all the places where its pre-done. I have a 10month old escape artist, and did not have time to sand and treat the whole thing before putting it up, especially since I had 2! Next issue, the directions are basic but manageable. For something that needs to be sturdy and bolted into the wall, they do not include any anchors. Luckily, I'm handy and already had some left over. Now let's get to installation. I managed, but let me tell you, if you don't have a power drill, this will be hard as heck to drill a hole. I don't have one, so I borrowed one. Once I had it assembled and the screw eyes bolted into the wall, it's time to latch it! *sigh* You have to first hook it into the bottom eye, then squeeze the locking latch to hook onto the top eye. This mechanism is not the best. It's hard for anyone that doesn't have great dexterity, such as my 6yo or my elderly m.i.l. Now its installed. It wobbles like crazy. My baby can make tons of noise by shaking the heck out of it, and the parts that allow it to expand slide around and nearly trap her fingers! Overall I am greatly disappointed in this, but couldn't afford to buy 2 of anything of better quality due to the significantly higher prices. ... show more
