Size: Short Shackle
Sometimes you need a lock. Not a fancy or expensive or high security lock, but just a good one. Basic and easy to use. That is this lock. Easy to change the combination if you need to occasionally. Great for use in areas you don't want to carry a key (gym lockers, etc.) or in areas that you might need someone ELSE to get access and you can just give them the code. PLENTY strong enough and sturdy enough to secure things and keep out most opportunistic thieves as well as keep honest people honest. It won't stop someone with tools who is determined and has time, but that is a different use case. Good size for many uses. Not tiny yet small enough to fit in your pocket or pack. Honestly a main selling point for me was that I CAN change the combination, so I don't have to remember an assigned random one, and that I can do that WITHOUT any tools. This is good in case the need to change it arrives and I don't have to wait, I can change the combination right then and there. Great choice for mid security needs. I would buy as a gift for friends ... show more

    • Decent low security combination lock, fine for lockers and gates
Size: Short Shackle
This is a reasonably decent low security combination lock. No combination lock could be called high security, as there is a finite number of possible combinations, but this is about what one would expect at this price point. The lock doesn't require a tool to change the combination, entering the proper combination, rotating the shackle 180 degrees, and pressing in into the lock body. This is convenient but unlikely to result in inadvertently changing the code. The internals of the lock appear to be held in place by two pins. These could be vulnerable to drilling if someone were so inclined. The lock does not allow you to move the dial with the shackle open, and seems to require the code to be correct for the latch to move. I'm not expert, but it appears that the way this was implemented would make it impossible to break into the lock by shimming. Pulling on the shackle doesn't exert enough pressure on the wheels to make them bind in a way that it could be instantly decoded by an unskilled person. In summary, this lock is find for the things you would use a combination lock for: gates, lockers, and other low security applications. ... show more

This is one great heavy duty lock. I use it to keep a storage bench on the side of my house locked. I keep my gardening supplies in there and like that when my grandkids come over, they are secured away. I tend to lose the keys so my husband recommended we try the combination type instead. These updated combination locks are so much easier to use than these round spiny ones you used to have on your locker. This lock is huge, heavy and seems quality. It's easy to open and close. I initially used it for my gym locker, but it was a little too heavy so I use a lighter and smaller lock instead. However, I would still recommend it if you are looking for a decent lock for shed or gate.

This lock is large and strong-looking. The instructions are easy to follow and the combination is easy to set up and re-set. The combination numbers are large, clear and easy to read. The only potential weakness is that the lock body does not seem to be as solid as it could be, raising a question of its ability to withstand abuse. I got this for my locker at work after having my shoes stolen. I had a different one but found it to be too small. This thing is the exact opposite. ITS HUGE! I definitely didn’t work for my locker but it has worked well for our outdoor shed. Easy to set the combination, and it is definitely sturdy.
