    • Very nice and sturdy lock
Easy-ish setup through the IOS app and the lock is very sturdy. The user experience leaves a bit to be desired because the app sends you one code via e-mail and one code via text message at the same time. You will be inclined to enter the code from the text message first but you will be wrong. You have to enter the e-mail code first and then after that it will ask you to enter the code from the text message. Then you have to enter the activation code. The app shows you an image of the box as it appears on the packaging and you will try to click on it several times before you realize that the app wants you to enter the activation code in the textbox above the image and not on the image itself. I bought this to go on a Lifetime shed in my back yard. My only complaint is that it is slightly too long and a little too thick to fit in the narrow holes for my shed. I can get it on with some maneuvering but I would prefer not to have to. Aside from that, looks and feels like a quality product and works as advertised. I have been using it for two days so far. I am giving it 5 stars because I am rating the lock itself and not the usability of the application I couldn't find a way for my wife to have permanent access to the lock with her own account, so she ended up signing into my account on her phone. We use this on the gate to our property. We have been locked in & locked out on multiple occasions. There is nothing wrong with the battery but sometimes the lights just stop working. It struggles to connect to the app on a good day , the locking mechanism often fails to engage and it has left us not only frustrated but has compromised our safety and security. It is so bad I contacted Masterlock to see if I had a genuine product! Despite numerous attempts to contact Masterlock ... crickets. An expensive piece of decoration. I would not recommend, 1 x star cos the concept is great. But something has definitely gone awry in the execution. UPDATE: Amazon has refunded me, thank you muchly. We have since tried other locks but none as good as the "idea" of this one. I see there are some positive reviews so I am going to try again as buying this locally is TWICE the price. I'm hoping maybe I just got a dud? UPDATE: I read some more reviews & it seemed to be working for other buyers. So I bought another one. This one didn't play up at all ... just stopped working altogether after about 6 weeks or so. Just had very frustrating online chat with Amazon Customer Service who want me to send it back - I explained it was still attached to a huge heavy gate bolt, sent them a photo to prove. They said that since it is a month past their item return window, the best they can do is 20% of purchase price refund. Masterlock equally useless. Learnt my lesson ... ... show more

    • Well sealed! Makes my life much easier.
So far so good. I've had one from another brand that had water issues. We do get heavy rains here. What I like better with this lock is the larger battery. Our gate gets opened 10-20 times a day. The other advertised 6 months battery life only to discover that is only if you use it once or twice a day. I did make contact with Master Lock about opening during heavy rainfall and if we could use de-icer on it in the winter. They were emphatic about relocking the lock as soon as possible and try to cover the lock from the rain while it is open. Some water "may" collect on the inside. However when locked it is well sealed. They are to get back to me about the deicer. Regular locks we heat with a torch to open in the Winter after a freezing rain. The four buttons on front are easier to hit a combo than dits and dahs of undetermined length done by other locks. It appears to respond quicker to the phone on unlock and has a nice large icon on the lock to indicate interaction and green for it's unlocked. Of the bluetooth locks I've researched So far this one appears to work best in our situation. A tow yard impound/accident lot. ... show more

Works great. I gave it a 4-star because the app could be better. While it works great on my phone, I find that sharing access (like with my wife) so others can access it via the app on their phone is problematic. She is still unable to access. **** UPDATED 12/26/2017 **** Master Lock customer support responded to me after I initiated a support request on their website. They got back to me this morning with troubleshooting instructions. I was able to follow it. Apparently I had to recalibrate the lock (done this before, but did not uninstall the app from my phone) and it worked. Adding 1 star back to rating since customer support was good. It will not get a 5 star unless the app is improved. **** UPDATED 12/21/2017 **** I purchased this lock in November 2016. It has been working well, except fort the app. Anyway, I've noticed that lately I have been having to go into locker mode to manually enter the combination to unlock it. I figured it may have been the battery running low, so now that I'm off for the holidays, I decided to tinker with it. I changed the battery and fussed with it as much as I can. It looks like the Bluetooth unit is no longer working and I'm just shy past the 1 year warranty. I'm stuck with using it in locker mode. I'll see if I can get MasterLock to replace it under warranty and will provide an update if they do. ... show more
