Each of the 2 heating zones is independently adjusted via a variable temperature control knob. This commercial-grade 24” electric flat top has a stainless-steel body and heavy- duty heating elements designed to withstand daily use in commercial foodservice applications. The 1/2” thick steel griddle ensures fast and even heating great for cooking everything from eggs and pancakes to burgers. A 3” backsplash and enclosure helps minimize splatter keeping surrounding surfaces clean. The media could not be loaded. Finally, a THICK plate commercial style griddle that doesn't break the bank! No comparison to the prevalent cheap thin plate griddles, this is heavy duty! Pros Heavy duty construction, 14 gauge body 1/2" griddle plate (holds that heat and won't warp) Robust and simple wiring large single heading element (significantly larger than the cheap griddles,) A basic dial thermostat HEAVY 12 gauge detachable power cord Heavy adjustable feet Full 15 amp power Very cost effective, similar commercial class griddles are 4x this price! Cons Good gosh this thing smokes when new!! Turn it on high for a few hours to burn it off. Smells awful!! There's some kind of contaminate in the burner to plate area that's the cause of the burning smell.. Not sure what it is. I disassembled the griddle and sanded all the charred mystery stuff off. There's a gap around the edge of the plate to slash guard and mine leaks (found out during the initial clean). Found 3 weld leaks, one front stud and 2 on the side seam. It's possible that griddle fat/oil could drip inside the unit and smoke or just a general leak inside and underneath. I think one of the differences from this to the $$$1k++++ units is a fully welded splash guard on the top of the plate and the bottom?
