  • Understand what you're getting, and adjust accordingly.
Style: 5-in-1
tl;dr: Good device. Worth getting in place of a normal air fryer due to its greater flexibility. It is, however, still a convection device. Keep in mind when cooking things. This is a first impression so far only using it to cook a few things so far, but my experience has been great - if with a few caveats. For full disclosure, I bought this with my own money and while it was about $30 off. I received what appeared by all accounts to be a brand new unit with that new appliance smell, complete with burning off excess plastics on first use. First things first: this is a fancy convection oven. It's a convection oven that gets to very high temperatures and has very strong air circulation, but it is - ultimately - a convection oven. Unlike a proper grill, this has a fan that is constantly circulating air which means it will cook things faster. Keep this in mind when using it and make adjustments to prevent overcooking your food. As a general rule, the recommended times that come with the device are to make something Well Done. For this purpose, they're accurate, but you probably will want to cut a few minutes off of those times for anything less than that. The device itself is straight forward to use. It has fairly standard oven/air fryer controls, but arranged a little differently. There are different functions that effectively change whether the air circulates in the unit or not, and there are macro temperature controls (low, med, high, max) that can be fine tuned from there. Time is only in intervals of whole minutes, which is slightly inconvenient, but Fine. When initially starting up and preheating, this thing is fairly loud. It doesn't stay loud for long, but can probably wake up a light sleeper in a small apartment. Probably not a huge issue, but one to be mindful of when using for the first time. I've cooked london broil and salmon with this using the Grill option (regular circulation) with the recommended temperature settings (High and Max accordingly.) As I mentioned before, be mindful of how much you want to cook something. The recommended settings always err toward Well Done. As an example: in the case of salmon, I cooked it for eight minutes the first time and it was just a touch more cooked than preferred. At seven minutes, it was perfect. As for the steak, don't make the same mistake I did the first time and keep opening the grill if you have a standard meat thermometer. All of that hot air is just going to escape and it'll take some time to get back up to temperature again. In my case, I was too paranoid about the doneness of the steak that I ended up slightly overcooking it (medium-well instead of medium-rare) due to having to bring the unit back to temperature in order for it to cook the center properly. In short: get a quick read thermometer, or just follow the guide line of shaving a minute or two off of recommended cook time based on desired doneness. As for the results, they still tasted great. The grill surface does get hot enough to make a nice sear into the meat. Like any convection oven, the circulating air keeps the food from drying out and the cuts of meat were left very juicy and tasty. Cleaning is easy for as long as the ceramic coating lasts. This is the same caveat as literally anything with a Teflon (or similar) coating. If you're especially paranoid, let everything soak in soap+water before cleaning it off. The brush it comes with does the job, but any sort of dish scrubbing brush (NOT WIRE PADS) should be just as good. Overall, my first impressions of this appliance are great. It is far easier, quicker, tastier, and more convenient than frying off or sticking something in the oven to broil. My wife and I have replaced the air fryer in our kitchen with this since it serves both purposes. If anything changes, I'll update this review. Update: We’ve cooked a larger variety of things including turkey legs, hamburgers, smaller wings and so on. Everything remains great. It’s been very easy to clean as well with no signs of chipping on the finish. I will say I do hand clean everything, but it shouldn’t make much difference in the dishwasher. ... show more

  • Small but mighty
Style: 6-in-1 With Thermometer
So far I love my Ninja. I have used the grill the most, chicken and steaks. I have not used thermometer yet. I have roasted vegetables and baked a casserole and used the air fryer for fries. I had an air fryer before the Ninja . (not a Ninja brand) The Ninja air fries even better than my old one, more room and much quicker. Little bit of a learning curve but basically very easy to use. It isn't huge but certainly big enough for a family of four. It is not light. I don't have a lot of counter space and I keep mine in the oven. Have only used the big oven once since I got the Ninja. I'm in my 70's and have no problem moving it in and out of the oven. My only complaint and it is small, is that I think it takes a long time to heat up. But when it gets there the grill is sizzling. It leaves great grill marks. Easy clean up on all the parts. ... show more

  • Easy to use and clean; versatile/ love it
Style: 6-in-1 With Thermometer
I have used this product quite a bit already. It is really easy to use and to clean, and the burgers I made tasted amazing - perfectly done thanks to the included thermometer. It’s nice to be able to throw something on a grill indoors when it’s 100 degrees out!

  • Great Results
Style: 6-in-1 With Thermometer
I bought this Ninja Foodie for the temp probe and adjustable final internal temperature. My first attempt was a 12oz ribeye that was cooked perfectly and looked like it was right out of my Weber grill. Cleanup is a breeze due to the nonstick grill insert and nonstick pan. The controls are easy to use and adjustments are simple. I’m sold on the versatility and features at a cost effective price. ... show more

  • Effortless, perfectly grilled food right in your kitchen!
Style: 6-in-1 With Thermometer
Omg, I am in love with this thing! I’ve used it almost daily since I got it. I’ve bought many “miracle” appliances in the past but none ever lived up to the hype and were quickly forgotten. I moved from a house where I grilled or used a cast iron grill pan on a gas stove almost daily. Now I have a glass top stove and can’t use cast iron and no grills allowed in the balcony. So far, I’ve used it for grilling steak, chicken, fish, and veggies and air frying potatoes, frozen fries, and frozen chicken strips and everything has turned out flavorful, moist, and cookbook-picture perfect. Honestly, the thermometer makes sure it’s perfect and the food turns out even better than my beloved grill (don’t tell Weber!). It almost feels like cheating somehow. The smoke alarm has gone off a couple of times, but only when I have the lid open and it’s stopped quickly. In a small apt practically everything sets off the alarm so I’m actually pretty impressed that it has only rarely activated it. I’m excited to try the other functions, like roasting and dehydrating. The grill, air fryer basket, and drip pan/roasting pan are very well made and dishwasher safe. They have been a total breeze to clean, which makes it even easier to use frequently. Bottom line: it’s not cheap, but absolutely worth every penny. Especially if you like grilled and air fried food, those functions alone make it absolutely with the cost and counter space. I’m not usually one to take pics of my food but I did take one of a cedar planked salmon and grilled Mexican street corn made on the ninja grill. Both were perfect with practically no effort and steaks and chicken were just as beautiful. ... show more

  • Nice Grilling Option
Style: 6-in-1 With Thermometer
This new Ninja is a second generation. It is much improved in terms of eliminating the smoking problem inherent in the first generation. Even chicken breasts rubbed with veg oil and seasonings do not result in smoke. Cleaning is relatively easy but grilling requires some scrubbing to ensure all the grooves and crevices are clean of food particles and burned on bits. This XL size is good good for four generous burgers. The Ninja is a bit noisy. And the recommended preheating takes a few minutes reducing efficiency of the unit. Nevertheless it is a good appliance and more efficient than heating an oven for just a few items. ... show more
