I painted one of these and used it to cover a hole in a wood floor, where a steam pipe used to run thru. I had plugged the hole with some spackle type stuff but it looks better now. Be aware that on the 3" shield the adhesive is in the middle of the disc, so it might not be effective if you are covering an unplugged 2-3" hole. ... show more

My daughter had a jet tub that was leaking and ruining her ceiling. I used 3M 5200 to seal the jet openings and then used the 5200 to glue these to the tub. I took the self-adhesive off first. Used the 5200 to bring the caulk out to the edge of the circle. I did this over a few days while my daughter was gone on vacation because the 3m 5200 takes a while to setup. These little plates stick nicely to the wall and do offer some protection. Larger plates are probably a better choice if protecting walls from door knobs as they could distribute impact better and cover existing defects.
