  • Great microscope for the hobbyist
The lighting is very good, adjustment of the arm lights a bit stiff, and they sort of bend back so may need a little fiddling, but once they are in the right place, they are very good. Plus, being able to adjust the intensity is very good. It's easy enough, although, I might have put the slide adjustment off the left, up and down, as opposed to the back, side to side. The box light for slides is terrific, and as a hobbyist, I find the ability to just move the box around to see different parts of the slides works fine for me. Box lighting is very nice, quite adjustable, easy to use. The microscope is also easy to adjust. I have it set now at a perfect height for my use, and don't need to adjust the microscope up and down, just the fine tune adjustment is needed. The smart zoom is convenient, but over 4.0, the image isn't as clear. Up to 4.0, however, it's really good. That is something which may be able to be improved by a software adjustment, I'm not sure, but if it could only be nice and sharp at 8.0! Oh wow! I would upgrade the remote if this was possible, because it is a bit cumbersome to keep going back into the menu to change from photo to video, and often instead of using the remote to enter the menu, I end up taking another picture or starting the video...it would be great if there was a "photo" button, and a "video" button on the remote. The zoom on the remote is sensitive, so often I go from 4.0 to 8.0 without trying. Oh well. At least it works. It charges fast, and I've set it up so the lights are always connected, the Lightbox is always connected, and it's always plugged in, because accessing the USB port on the monitor just happens to be difficult due to the height I have the microscope set at. This way, I can just turn off the power strip when the microscope is charged (although the unit stops charging automatically when completed.) I'm having the best time exploring the worlds in the water from the dishes under my plants! And bugs, flowers, leaves, just everything! I'm seeing amazing things, so beautiful and fascinating - I'm so glad I bought this microscope. ... show more

  • Amazing
A must for anyone interested into insects. It is lightweight and portable. The internal rechargeable battery means you dont need power. It runs entirely on 5V USB. I can run this item for hours of a jump starter or battery bank. The 10 inch screen is perfect and the 25 MP camera provides great resolution. A little hint, get the macro lens! The 2nd picture shows the bee at 4x digital zoom. It goes all the way to 8x. You simply press the left or right arrows on the monitor to activate. Top and side lights are controlled with slider bars you slide your finger over. It is that simple. It is ready to use straight out of the box after you put the 3 components together. A no brainer btw. It would be nice if they had a case for it, but a hand gun case is the cheapest option, if you need one. I still use my stereo microscope, but looking into one gets into your neck if you have a lot of specimens. This one is ideal, plus you can connect it to your computer and take screen shots. It also has a micro SD card you can use to take photos or even videos with sound as well. The HDMI cable let's you plug in a TV or monitor to show things to others. Overall a great buy and customer service is excellent. They answer question extremely fast. On Facebook they responded within minutes, but I may have been lucky to be online at the same time. On Amazon you have an answer the next day. I suggested to offer a better camera app for Windows 10. The one that comes with windows works with this camera, but it is very basic. They are looking into it. ... show more

  • Good scope for meteorites, I expected more
Easy to setup, used YouTube instructions. The electronic menu is cumbersome, but it hooked to my MacBookPro photo booth app seamlessly. This enabled photos to be saved to the laptop directly, vs buying a chip reader. Somehow I expected more focus and definition, zooming in closer. The scale in the pallasite photo is about 2.5 cm across. But for the price it’s truly remarkable. ... show more

  • Issues with Digital Zoom and Card Reader
My unit was the DM202 Max 25MP, Firmware Version 1.2.24 Unit arrived and the card reader wasn't working. Couldn't take pictures or videos. Contacted Support and tried their troubleshooting steps but to no avail. They suggested I return the unit. No big deal, could happen to any vendor. Won't ding them too much for that. More concerning was the poor digital zoom. The available range is 1x - 8x. For 1x - 3.9x the image looked great, but once you reached 4x or above the image became blurry. I also asked Support about this, and they confirmed my observations. They said they were working on resolving the issue. Given this issue I'll be asking for a refund rather than a replacement. BTW, for folks who have reported that the magnification is nowhere near what they claim, I agree. Best I could get was 800x (using the blurry 8x zoom). But keep in mind, the magnification will depend on the distance between the sample and the microscope lens. If you want a large field of view and a small magnification, move the lens as far from the specimen as possible and focus using the focusing knob. If you want high magnification, move the scope down until the lens is practically touching the sample and then focus there. Too bad about the zoom. I liked the scope otherwise. Nice clear images (as least below 4x). ... show more

  • Easy to use, excellent image quality for the money
I plan on using this for researching my metal detector finds and for electronics PCB builds and repairs, but it's useful for many purposes. I took pictures of a fallen wasp nest from the previous season, with excellent results. So far, loving this microscope.
