  • Cool, breezy relief for a very warm house
Color: White
The oscillation setting covered the entire bedroom with a lovely gentle breeze on warm days and especially welcome on warm nights. The sound from the fan is a low noise level and not at all annoying. We have one for each bedroom and the remote control is convenient to adjust fan speed, oscillation and power on or off. I haven’t used the sleep mode yet but it is a nice option. We were able to lower the air conditioning use for the house and save on energy by using this fan on the warmest days this summer. It is a really great fan! ... show more

  • Modern and sleek
Color: White
We purchased this, as an extra heating source for our kitchen, on extra cold days. It's modern and sleek looking. It's quiet and gets the job done. However, I wish the heating source was at the top of the fan and not at the bottom. Haven't used it as a cooling source.

  • Looks better than it performs
Color: White
Aesthetically this is the second coolest looking tower fan compared to the Dyson AM07, but the Peter fan is only quiet on the lowest setting, of which there are only three (Dyson is quiet up to setting 3 of 10). On the higher settings, it sounds like a hair dryer in that it starts developing a higher pitch quality to the sound and I have to raise the volume of the TV to hear over the sound of the fan (similar to the Dyson at higher settings in this regard). The Peter fan is acceptable for use when sleeping at night at the lowest setting, but there was a fluttering sound on my example and it was unclear if it was coming from the wind generating mechanism or the oscillation mechanism; however, the LED lights at the top of the unit remain on and are somewhat bright, casting a glow on the nearest wall and in the room, which bothered me and I had to put something opaque on the top in order to sleep. The Peter fan is otherwise well built, with a very nicely weighted, sturdy metal base plate; the remote works well and has a storage compartment in the back (the Dyson is constructed entirely of lightweight plastic and the remote only works well when you point directly at the base of the fan with direct line of sight, and the remote storage via a hidden magnet on the top of the fan is not very secure). In short, I ended up returning both the Peter fan and the Dyson because they were expensive and could only be used at the lowest speeds. I purchased based on the few reviews available that said that the Peter fan was extremely quiet, which it is not in my experience. Yes, I am picky, but I don’t think I’m the only one out there with such specific requirements and I hope to help others avoid wasting time with having to test out multiple fans. Ultimately, I saw a Toshiba tower fan at Home Depot that seemed pretty quiet in the store but I was pleasantly surprised that when I brought it home, it is quiet and useable at all speeds without any high pitched air flow sound or extraneous noises from the oscillating mechanism so I am happy and have bought a few of them (though the Toshiba is not as aesthetically pleasing as the other two fans, but definitely not as clunky or as much of an eyesore as others out there). ... show more

  • He's loud
Color: Black
Ed H.'s review nails it perfectly, but just to reiterate. I occasionally get the fluttering noise as well which is annoying. At the lowest setting it gives a nice gentle breeze, but anything else is quite noisy compared to other fans. I was most disappointed by the natural breeze option. It sounds like a great idea, and with some fuzzy logic, gentler changes, and a quieter motor this could be genius. It uses a very simple timed boost to the motor taking it one step up in intensity which means a waxing waning whirring that is way more annoying than a constant white noise. Also, post 2010 it feels very odd to use an LED based remote. You have to point it very precisely at the device. Finally the Swiss must have very short sleep cycles as the longest "sleep" mode is only 4h which I find strange. It looks great, but afraid the good news ends there unless you only plan to use the lowest setting. ... show more

  • Awesome fan
Color: White
My sister got one and loved it so I got one as well. It's relatively quiet, turns smoothly when set to oscilate. I love the 3 fan settings. Attaching the base took only a few minutes.

  • Cool Fan
Color: White
Looks really cool, especially the blue lights that temporarily show the power level. Not at all loud.

  • didn't know I needed a remote in my life
Color: Black
I usually run all fans on low because I don't care for the noise if it's too loud. This fan is quiet enough to run on high and I can adjust it from bed using the remote once it's cool enough in my room. It's a little pricey, but worth it.
