Based off the reviews and hype surrounding the bissell little green (pet pro version) I ordered it hoping to clean a water-stained Facebook marketplace couch and stair runners that were dirty/stained when we moved into our place. After cleaning half the couch though I realized how much I disliked the bissell and ordered this instead. This machine fixes several of my complaints with the bissell and it managed to get every stain out (which the bissell did not). Pros to this over the bissell: 1. It has much better attachments, including a wider head and scrub brush that makes cleaning large areas much more manageable. 2. The brush heads come apart for easy cleaning (bissell does not) 3. Brush heads include a rubber scrub side and a bristle side for different cleaning needs (rubber worked better on our couch, bristle worked great for the floors and getting stains out) 4. Cleaning solution smells better, works better, and full size bottles were included 5. Spray actually goes where you think it will unlike the bissell where it was predominantly on my floors rather than the couch 6. Easy to set up and maneuver due to small size 7. Much lighter to pick up and transport Cons/ways bissell was better (or equal): 1. The shark has a much smaller water tank due to its compact size so I had to refill it several times throughout the cleaning process whereas the bissell did not require frequent filling 2. The bissell had a slightly better suction and required less force to be used to get water back up (I still felt I got plenty up with the shark however just noticed it’s not as powerful) 3. Both have very small hoses and you have to pick up /move the machine regularly to reach what you’re trying to clean which can be a pain For the price, I am very happy with this purchase and definitely would recommend it if in search of a portable upholstery/carpet cleaner! ... show more

I bought this to clean up a pet mess on a rug. This rug pictured was at my back door where the dogs go out and come in. I knew it was dirty, but not this much (pictured). Once I cleaned up the mess with the Shark, it was such a huge difference, that I’ll need to clean the whole thing, and continue on to clean all the rugs in my house. I had completely forgot that this rug was silver in color. At first, I thought I was missing attachments. There is a crevice tool and a reversible brush (one side is a stiff bristle and the other side is a scrubber with rubber nubs) that isn’t in the box. But when I removed the smaller attachment, I realized that the crevice tool is inside! And the brushes are already attached, just snap them off and the other type of brush is on the other side. Tip for best suction - don’t use the wide attachment. I know it covers more ground, but the smaller one has waaay more. Making it more efficient in the long run. It was powerful enough to lift the corner of a thick, stiff rug. I’ve used other machine in the past, but none with this much power. It’s a little big, but I like the large capacity for both cleaner and dirty water. I can go a lot further in cleaning session. I recommend the set that includes the full size cleaners. Trust me, you’ll need them. But even the large size, I was surprised at how light it was. It’s not heavy at all. It’s easy to use. Quick start-up. I can use hot water. The instructions are clear with easy diagrams for those that need every visual possible. Even I, set this up in a very short amount of time. Five minutes max. You simply detach the water tank, fill it with water to the first line then top it up with the signature Shark cleaning solution to the second line. You then screw the lid back on tightly and put it back in place. Next, you want to remove the Stain Striker tank and fill it with the OXY Multiplier Formula which I believe is what my carpets owe their fresh scent to. Secure the lid and put it back in place, it is all very easy. You are nearly ready to go, it is just a case of securing the tool you want to use, to the main crevice tool. To remove them, you press the small release button and it slides on and off, feeling almost magnetic. I quickly got the hang of it so I'm sure anyone would, you just need to get the angle right.I found it all very intuitive. I followed the instructions, spraying the stained areas for a few seconds holding the head level, scrubbing, and then sucking up the remnants using the extractor, which works by simply pulling the crevice tool towards you, as you press into the carpet. I often saw results instantly. As instructed for deep-set staining, I went over this using the wide tough stain tool once, leaving the solution on for 15-20 minutes or so before scrubbing again and extracting the debris. Cleaning your cleaning supplies after you've just done a load of chores feels like ugh to me, however, it is important to keep your machine in good working order and it was very easy with the StainStriker so I really can't complain. You want to unplug the machine, and pour out the dirty water from the tank, before giving it a rinse. Then all of the clear lids on the tools slide off for easy rinsing in the sink. Note 'rinse', I did not submerge anything in water. You can easily remove the cup from the pet stain-trapping tool too for a good clean. To clean the crevice tool, you attach the hose cleaning tool which is easy to slot on, you plug the machine back in, switch it on, and press the lever, running it for about a minute so that it clears out lingering debris. You can do this multiple times, depending on how bunged up yours is. You will want to remove the little black filter too and give it a rinse, everything is really well indicated in the pamphlet and I found the processes self-explanatory. There is also an orange connecting clip underneath the machine which you can remove to take out any clogged debris. I think it's probably worth doing this every time too as a little gunk and water jetted out of mine when removed.
