I've been using this cleaner in my boat on the carpet, my wife uses it in the house on rugs & carpets. We both like the way it loads fresh water and unloads dirty used soapy water. The Bissel trial / small size jug of carpet cleaner works well and smells far better than any other carpet soap I've found. It leaves the boat smelling nice, instead of like harsh chemicals. The same goes for the rugs & carpets in the house. We've used it about a dozen times, and it's held up OK so far. Drawbacks: Occasionally balls of wet carpet fibers, dirt, pet hair collect on the scrubber bristles or their side edges, and the suction doesn't do a great job of picking them up. We have to manually bend down & grab those balls of wet gunk, some of which are the size of a quarter, & toss them in the garbage. I'd like it better if the vacuum section just sucked them right up, too. But commercial steam cleaners and higher end home steamers I've used have the same issue, so it's apparently not a big deal that this one has the same issues. I recommend this one over any other one I've purchased or rented, including the Rug Doctor equipment. Light enough to lift into the boat while it's on the trailer. Small enough to store well in a nearly-full closet. I wish it had come with a bigger jug of cleaner, and that the Bissel replacement soap were less expensive. But that's just life, I guess. Perhaps I'll try other soaps, looking for one that's more affordable and still smells nice. I wish you could remove the used / dirty water jug while the steam cleaner's handle was in the fully vertical position, but that's not possible. You must step on the release pedal to get the handle to go back far enough to allow removal of the used water jug. ... show more

I debated as whether or not to purchase this unit as I previously owned a similar unit nearly 20 Yrs ago which was less than satisfactory. Needless to say, so glad I did! Our carpeting is over ten years old having had it cleaned many times professionally, we are so happy with the result from this machine. It cleaned effectively and easily with little to no hassle or mess, cleanup for this unit was a breeze. The sample cleaning solutions provided cleaned our living and dining room with ease on the heavier setting. Our carpet fibers came alive and any residual dog hair was removed (we vacuum 3 times weekly and was surprised at what this unit uncovered). I recommend you throughly vacuum your carpet first. The two cleaning solutions were nicely/lightly scented. Our carpets dried within a few hours with windows open, ceiling fan and central A/C fan going on a beautiful Fall day. No sticky residue remained. The cost of this unit was equal to the cost of one professional treatment. It is Sturdy and well constructed. Plenty of suction and the furniture tool worked well. I was doubtful but this lightweight cleaner did a good job removing dirt from some very large dirty area rugs. I expected that I would have to empty and refill the tanks but I expected that in a smaller cleaner. I was very pleased in the ease of handling. I have had larger, heavier machines in the past but because my cleaning needs are limited to area rugs now, I would choose this machine again. ... show more

    • I’m sold on this cleaner.

1) sprayer doesn’t work. Washed it and did troubleshooting by YouTube videos. Still not work, but drops of cleaning solution comes out. 2) brush didn’t turn. I had to attach the belt, which should have been already assembled. 3) dirty water is left on the item I was cleaning. 4) the water pools on floor while sitting, to not have this happen I take the tank off the machine. For the amount of money I paid for this headache I would expect to not have to do anything but plug in and clean. It feels like a poorly refurbished item. Nothing I mean absolutely NOTHING worked from the start EXCEPT the electrical cord. I actually came home to repair a newly purchased item instead of using the item with success in cleaning. After fixing the belt, I was able to spray the rug, but it was a disaster. The hose attachment will pull up dirt, but I’d need a spray bottle for that task. I’m not impressed and I truly believe the amount of money I paid for this is a reason to leave a minus 5 star review. Update: I contacted the company and they replaced the hose and the sprayer works and the machine doesn’t leak. I cleaned upholstery and a carpet and I truly am impressed. I was frustrated to have ordered an item and didn’t get my money’s worth from the start. The company replaced the hose and I’m happy that everything works.
