    After my last cleaner leaked all over my floor, I did a lot of research to determine which device/machine could best handle the pet cleanup needs of our home, given we have an old dog who has taken to using our rug for a pee pad for the first time in his life. No sooner did the box arrive on the porch, when my old dog peed right in front of me on the rug. I immediately unboxed this cleaner, and found it incredibly intuitive. All parts are labeled with directions, and I was able to put it to task within minutes. I was able to address the mess and get the rug clean right away. It trapped pet hair as it indicated it could.     BLUF: LOVE PROS: Pet hair catcher Cleaners spot they call it a Self wash The tanks sit flap so you can set them down, you don't have to hold them- FLAT BOTTOMS! or Tops, whatever. CONS: Um, I'll get back to you ... So this is probably the 3rd or 4th one of these devices I've gotten. We have animals, and messes are a part of life. My bestie has the little green one, it was awesome when I was pet sitting and her boy got diarrhea 😞. So I got the step up of from hers, with the heated water tank cause hot water works better>>> And I hated it. It was hard to clean, constantly leaked, and made a bigger mess when dumping the dirty water tank. Literally gave it away. Anyway, I have one in the repair shop, covered under a warranty, but that leaves me without. I have to take a trip for family stuff and am leaving my better-half with the 7 month nervous puppy with tummy issues, 2 other dogs, several indoor outdoor cats, chickens, and it's spring-ish. So there is mud, sap, poop, vomit, and a puppy with a tail that has killed my coffee more times than I can count. I knew I couldn't leave him without something. I took a chance. This came today. I'm packing and prepping and lo and behold, puppy takes out my coffee, again, all over my kitchen chair.. So I sighed, cleaned up the floor, gave him a carrot to distract him and set to assembling and using this. The problem with so many of these, is that pet hair causes so many clogs. And the place where the hose connects to them is like a U-turn so clog, clog, clog. Or the suctions good for a while and then sucks, or doesn't 🙃 This has 2 pet catcher thingies. And although I was using this on a kitchen chair, the cats nap here when I'm not using them, so I decided to er on the side of caution and used the pet hair thing. It's also easy to set up. The water tanks have flat spots so when you flip them over to fill them, I can set them on the floor or counter and it doesn't fall over. I don't have to figure how to hold the damn thing and fill and whatever. Yay! This is a huge win for me. Someone really thought about the design. So I get the chair cleaned. Then I look at the pet hair catcher. Eeeew. But yay again. It was easy to clean. And it has the cleaner thing on it to clean the hose so it doesn't get yucky or smelly. And the little tool, the others just slide over it. Easy. Another thing I like about this is the handle is big enough you can squeeze the trigger, and then move your hand for the back and forth action and not be constantly accidently hitting the sprayer thing. Hate when I make more work for myself. Suction seems good. Won't know until I tackle other stuff or after I've used it a few dozen times. The self wash was easy. I haven't wrapped it up yet. I'm literally so excited. I am sitting here writing this review and not doing dishes or packing as I should be. I think if I find the spoons, I'll get to my man's chair, and maybe my yoga mat so it has a chance to dry before I get back ... My chair is still wet, well damp, not wet, and I won't know if the coffee came out yet for a bit. Let you know. I'll get back to you on the cons of I find them. ... show more

    Style: StainStriker + Wide Path Tool (Burgundy)
    The instructions are clear with easy diagrams for those that need every visual possible. Even I, set this up in a very short amount of time. Five minutes max. You simply detach the water tank, fill it with water to the first line then top it up with the signature Shark cleaning solution to the second line. You then screw the lid back on tightly and put it back in place. Next, you want to remove the Stain Striker tank and fill it with the OXY Multiplier Formula which I believe is what my carpets owe their fresh scent to. Secure the lid and put it back in place, it is all very easy. You are nearly ready to go, it is just a case of securing the tool you want to use, to the main crevice tool. To remove them, you press the small release button and it slides on and off, feeling almost magnetic. I quickly got the hang of it so I'm sure anyone would, you just need to get the angle right.I found it all very intuitive. I followed the instructions, spraying the stained areas for a few seconds holding the head level, scrubbing, and then sucking up the remnants using the extractor, which works by simply pulling the crevice tool towards you, as you press into the carpet. I often saw results instantly. As instructed for deep-set staining, I went over this using the wide tough stain tool once, leaving the solution on for 15-20 minutes or so before scrubbing again and extracting the debris. Cleaning your cleaning supplies after you've just done a load of chores feels like ugh to me, however, it is important to keep your machine in good working order and it was very easy with the StainStriker so I really can't complain. You want to unplug the machine, and pour out the dirty water from the tank, before giving it a rinse. Then all of the clear lids on the tools slide off for easy rinsing in the sink. Note 'rinse', I did not submerge anything in water. You can easily remove the cup from the pet stain-trapping tool too for a good clean. To clean the crevice tool, you attach the hose cleaning tool which is easy to slot on, you plug the machine back in, switch it on, and press the lever, running it for about a minute so that it clears out lingering debris. You can do this multiple times, depending on how bunged up yours is. You will want to remove the little black filter too and give it a rinse, everything is really well indicated in the pamphlet and I found the processes self-explanatory. There is also an orange connecting clip underneath the machine which you can remove to take out any clogged debris. I think it's probably worth doing this every time too as a little gunk and water jetted out of mine when removed.       • Easy to use, Great Suction, Great cleaner, needs a better brush

    This little machine is great. The little green machine has gotten a lot of hype but honestly, that brand is not my favorite. Shark however has been a constant for me in my household. It is great value for the money. I have a regular sized shampooer, but this machine is so portable that I use it more and am happy to! The sprayer is great and the cleaning products in comes with smell great and are effective. Cleaning it after use is super easy too - so it makes it easy to use. I had to get a separate brush to Bruch out my upholstery after I spray with the cleaner - but It works great! I would consider getting this as a house-warming gift. 4 stars only b/c the attached brush is not that effective and I had to buy a separate one. But suction, cleaner and ease of cleaning get 5 stars all day ... show more
